The mission of the Department of Parks and Recreation’s (DPR), CA Boating Clean and Green Program (BC&GP) is to provide education to California’s boaters and promote clean and safe boating information.

One of the BC&GP’s main educational tools is the California Boater Kit. The boater kit is an educational tool for boaters that promotes safe and environmentally sound boating practices. A key component of the kit is the Tides and Current books (Tidebooks). The Tidebooks provide boaters with the tides and currents readings as well as with clean boating information and some of the pollution prevention services found at marinas.

The boater kits are distributed for free among the boating community by staff and volunteer Dockwalkers at boat shows, boating events, marinas, and boating facilities.

BC&GP seeks to purchase the 2025, 2026, and 2027 Northern California Tides and Currents Books (Tidebooks) to be distributed among the boating community.
