About this file

This document is an Attachment B for an Agricultural/Wildlife & Habitat Land Lease opportunity with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for the Albany Mounds State Historic Site (24AL2521). The lease covers approximately 65 acres of land and outlines a 4-year cropping plan from 2024 to 2027, specifying the required crops and acreages to be planted each year. The lessee must adhere to certain requirements, such as not using neonicotinoid-treated soybean seed, prohibiting the use of dicamba, following label directions for atrazine application, and leaving 10% of crops standing for wildlife food and cover. The lessee will be required to pay the agreed-upon per-acre lease amount if fields are left idle due to weather conditions preventing the scheduled crop from being planted.

The lease prohibits double-cropping and states that any changes to the cropping plan will require a formal amendment. Failure to comply with the cropping plan instructions may result in termination of the farm lease. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources reserves the right to require the lessee to leave all or a portion of the crops standing without being harvested, with the lessee still responsible for paying the agreed-upon rent per acre for any acres harvested in violation of the cropping plan.

IDNR may require the Lessee under this cropping plan to leave all or a certain portion of the crops in the field standing without being harvested. If Lessee fails to comply with this requirement, IDNR will receive the rent per acre from the Lessee as set forth in Section 2.1.2 for each acre that the Lessee harvested in violation of the cropping plan. Non-adherence to cropping plan instructions may be cause for termination of the farm lease.
