About this file

This is a Scope of Work specification document for Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSUD) Civil and Engineering program's fabrication and installation of a uniaxial shake table at the Aerospace Engineering Sciences Building Room 105. The project requires a contractor with demonstrated experience fabricating and building seismic shake tables to manufacture and install a steel frame shake table according to provided design drawings, clean and grease linear bearings and rails, and install a dynamic actuator upon its arrival. MSUD will supply the linear bearings and rails, the dynamic actuator (with an unknown delivery date), and provide access to the existing strong floor with threaded anchor holes as the installation base. The manufacturing and installation of the steel frame shake table must be completed by June 16th, 2017. Upon completion, the shake table frame must comply with design specifications, the table surface must be level, the two base beams must be firmly attached to the strong floor and parallel to each other, and the table component must slide freely along the linear rail without misalignment, verified through manual testing.

The contractor must submit a comprehensive budget as part of the bidding document that includes all materials except those provided by MSUD and all labor costs. A separate quote is required for the cost of assisting with dynamic actuator installation after its arrival. All steel surfaces must be sandblasted, and no painting of the frame is required. The deliverables and inspection requirements are clearly defined to ensure the shake table meets structural and functional standards for teaching and research purposes in MSUD's structures laboratory.

Scope of Work for manufacturing and installation of shake table at MSUD structures lab

In order to strengthen teaching and research capacity of Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Civil and Engineering program (structural engineering specialty), a uniaxial shake table will be built at MSUD’s structures lab located in the Aerospace Engineering Sciences Building Rm105.

Contractor Minimum Requirements

The contractor is required to have past experience fabricating and building seismic shake tables.

Description of Work to be completed

Fabricate and install the shake table as designed (please see attached design drawings for the shake table). Clean and grease the linear bearings and rails provided by MSUD and install it as part of the shake table. Install the dynamic actuator to the shake table once it arrives. No painting to the frame is needed, however all steel surfaces are to be sandblasted.

Materials will be provided by MSUD:

1. Linear bearings and rails for the sliding shake table component

2. Dynamic actuator shown in the drawings will be provided at a later date (estimated delivery is unknown) after the shake table frame is completed. Please provided a separate quote on the cost of helping install the actuator after it arrives.

3. Existing strong floor in MSUD’s structure lab (with existing threaded anchor holes) as the base of the shake table frame to attach to.

Schedule

The manufacturing and installation of the aforementioned steel frame shake table is to be completed before June 16th, 2017.

Budget

The contractor should submit budget including all material (except the materials to be supplied by MSUD) and labor as part of the bidding document.

Deliverables and Inspection requirements

Upon the completion of the work, following requirements shall be met:

1. The shake table frame installation shall comply with the design drawing documents.

2. The table surface shall be leveled.

3. The 2 base beams (B1 and B2) shall be firmly attached to the strong floor and aligned to be parallel and level to each other.

4. The table component (part A) shall slide freely along the linear rail without self-lock due to mis-alignment of the linear rails. This will be tested by manually pushing the table back and forth on the rail.
