This document is a Technical Requirements Specification (TRS) for vacuum jacketed flexible hoses for Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL). The specification details the technical requirements for fabricating 1 (one) 10-foot flexible hose designed for liquid nitrogen transfer, with specific technical parameters including a temperature range of 77K-340K, 321 SST hose material, 304 SST braid, 316 SST fittings, and 1/2" female VCR connections. Key technical requirements include a maximum allowable working pressure of 500 psig, dynamic bend radius of ~9", static bend radius of ~3", heat leak of ~1 BTU/hr/ft, helium leak testing to 1 x 10-9 std. cc/sec, and a flow rate of 6.3 gpm.
The specification provides comprehensive fabrication guidelines, including welding quality standards, cleaning requirements, leak checking and pressure testing protocols, and documentation requirements. The fabricator must follow ASME/ANSI codes, provide detailed material certifications, welding procedure specifications, and submit various reports including pressure test reports, welder qualification records, and radiography reports. Shipping requirements mandate contamination protection, and the hose comes with a 1-year warranty from shipment. The solicitation (RFP370625) is issued by the Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, seeking 4 vacuum jacketed flex hoses for an experimental project involving liquid nitrogen transfer.

WELDING AND BRAZING
WELDING QUALITY
· All welding shall be by argon shield, fusion arc weld process. All welds shall be internally purged with 100% argon during the time of welding and post weld treatment.
· FABRICATOR shall submit a welding quality management plan for any welding. That shall include welding qualifications, and results of all welding and brazing inspections and examinations (i.e. Radiography Tests, Ultrasonic Tests, Charpy Impact Tests, etc.).
· FABRICATOR shall qualify the welding procedure specification (WPS) and welders in accordance with the Section VIII paragraphs UW-28 and UW-29 and Section IX of the ASME BPVC Section VIII or Chapter V of ASME B31.3 before beginning of production work.
· All welding shall be done in such a manner that the weld surface is smooth and free of irregularities. No visible metal chips or foreign material may be detectable inside of any component. All external surfaces in the weld area shall be cleaned of heat tint, slag, and other deposits. No mechanical process shall be used to achieve the smooth appearance externally, however the internal surfaces shall be electroplated or electropolished after welding has been completed.
· No liquid penetrant or magnetic particle testing shall be used on any weld on the internal cryogenic temperature components.
· All welds shall be internally purged with welding quality argon gas during the time of welding and post welding treatment.
FABRICATION AND ASSEMBLY REQUIREMENTS
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
· FABRICATOR shall provide mill certification reports and/or material testing reports for all materials supplied by FABRICATOR. The reports shall include both physical and chemical properties of the materials. For commercial items such as weld rods, electrodes, and fasteners, certificates of compliance shall be supplied in lieu of mill certification reports.
