About this file
This document is a Technical Specification for Asphalt Shingles Roofing Replacement with project number NELTRAC900000, likely for a state or local government construction project. The specification details a comprehensive roofing replacement project involving the installation of glass-fiber-reinforced asphalt shingles, including complete removal of existing roofing materials, replacement of damaged wood, installation of new gutters and downspouts, and proper underlayment. The project requires a contractor to install high-quality laminated-strip asphalt shingles from approved manufacturers such as CertainTeed, GAF, Owens Corning, and others, with specific requirements for material performance, including a 30-year material warranty, 10-year wind-speed warranty up to 100 mph, and 15-year algae-resistance guarantee.
The project specifications include detailed technical requirements for materials, including ASTM-standard asphalt shingles with a minimum Class 3 hail impact rating, aluminum or galvanized steel roofing nails, and specific underlayment materials. The contractor will be responsible for daily site cleanup, waste removal, and adhering to strict installation guidelines. Warranty provisions include a manufacturer's material warranty and a two-year workmanship warranty from the roofing installer. The specification allows for color selection by the project architect and requires precise installation techniques, including specific overlap and fastening requirements for underlayment and shingles.
