The staff at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument continued to host various programs from the previous years as they are well attended programs. Some of the programs that continue to be offered are: World Bird Day, International Dark Sky events, The Naturalization Ceremony, the Annual Car Show, and the Winter Lecture Series; this year a new program was added and well attended as well and that is "Coffee with a Ranger." In FY18 the Friends of Salinas assisted with planning and hosting their first annual meeting. The annual meeting was a success, and more people signed up to become members of the Friends group. The Friends group assisted the staff in various events throughout the year. The Artist in Residence, David Halpern, conducted a photography workshop. Photographer Halpern also did a presentation on photography and the Artist in Residence Program in collaboration with Salinas Pueblo Missions, the Manzano Mountain Art Council, and Torrance County Archaeological Society. The Park continues its partnership with the Manzano Mountain Art Council, The Albuquerque Astronomical Society, Lake County Astronomical Society, and Torrance County Archaeological Society.

The monument celebrated a diverse number of events. Beginning in December, the Friends of Salinas Pueblo Missions hosted an open house to unveil an important fossil, a basal synapsid, which is a tetrapod that was discovered at Salinas Pueblo Missions two years ago. The Friends of Salinas Pueblo Missions have been very supportive of the monument assisting with various events. The park hosted a lecture series during the month of February. The park hosted several annual events such as World Migratory Bird Day, The Naturalization Ceremony, Eight dark sky events, the annual car show, and the Sunflower Festival. The park produced a calendar of events.

Our highest profile accomplishment was an event in partnership with our recently established Friends Group. It involved decorating the Abó ruins with traditional Hispanic luminaria Christmas decorations for a night program. Greatly exceeding expectations, attendance was at least 200. In continuation of our Dark Sky Park program, we were able to have two on-site and two off-site astronomy programs before the pandemic. Work has been ongoing through the summer on virtual visitation including videos and virtual tours featured on our park website. The Abó virtual tour is complete and available. The other two mission site virtual tours are still in progress. We made three videos about the stabilization work at Abó this summer and a movie that was included in the 2020 New Mexico Science Fiesta. Our artist-in-residence published the work he produced while at Salinas from 2017-2018. Covid-19 Operational Adaptations: All facilities were closed from March 22 to May 15. Special events, formal interpretation and educational programs were cancelled for the year beginning March 22. We began a phased opening on May 16, starting with opening the trails. Sneeze guards and handwash stations were installed in the visitor centers. Discretionary opening of the visitor centers began shortly after. Visitor center visitation was limited to no more than four visitors at a time at all four visitor centers. Six seasonal employees were hired which gave us the ability to have two rangers on duty at each mission site each day to more safely manage the flow of visitors.
