About this file
This document is a Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) for a Scientific and Technical Report related to the Area 1-42 Steam Generator project for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The CDRL provides detailed instructions for preparing and submitting draft and final technical reports, including specific formatting requirements such as mandatory sections (table of contents, abstract, introduction, methods, results, conclusions, recommendations), figure and table formatting guidelines, and distribution instructions. The document specifies that reports must be prepared in Microsoft Word, include a Report Documentation Page (SF 298), and potentially a patent application form (DD882), with submissions to be made to AFRL/RQRO and other specified AFRL offices. The report is to document and disseminate the results of analytical studies, research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) on an assigned task, with precise formatting and content requirements to ensure comprehensive technical documentation.

Block 4: Data Item Description (DID) located at:
https://quicksearch.dla.mil/qsDocDetails.aspx?ident_number=204944 Scope: Scientific and Technical Reports document and disseminate the precise nature and results of analytical studies, research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) on an assigned task(s) to the analytical, scientific, technical and management community. Scientific and Technical Reports, may be definitive for the subject presented, exploratory in nature, or an evaluation of critical subsystem or of technical problems.
The scientific and technical Report is to include the following mandatory sections:
Table of Contents (paginated as roman numeral i, centered) List of Figures, if more than 5 figures (paginated as roman numeral, centered) List of Tables, if more than 5 tables (paginated as roman numeral, centered) Begin the main report on Arabic number 1, centered.
Abstract/Summary (reading of the abstract will determine if a future user of the report will need to read the entire report.)
Introduction Methods, Assumptions, and Procedures Results and Discussion Conclusions (wrapping up the critical results of the work) Recommendations References List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Acronyms Appendices
Figures are to be numbered sequentially with captions beneath the figure in letter case. Use Bold format on captions. Do not use period at the end of caption. Keep the description of the caption short - if the figure needs to be further explained, place under the figure caption in 9 pt font in a style separate from figure caption style. It can also be included in the text of the report.
(Example: This is a Test of the AFRL STINFO Office in Letter Case) Ensure there are directional arrows and callouts to specific parts.
Captions are to stay on the same page as the figure - not slip to the next page.
Tables are to be numbered sequentially with captions above the table in letter case. Use Bold format on captions. Do not use period at the end of caption. Keep the description of the caption short.
Introduce in text figures and tables before they appear in report.
Add to the header and footer (after the page number and distribution statement - it must be last) "CUI" Ensure that font, font size, punctuation after figure and table number is consistent and not a mixture (example: using Arial and Times New Roman for figure caption; using period and colon after the figure or table number).
Choose and use one Style format for References.

FOR THE CONTRACTOR
Item 17. Specify appropriate price group from one of the following groups of effort in developing estimated prices for each data item listed on the DD Form 1423.
a. Group I. Definition - Data which is not otherwise essential to the contractor's performance of the primary contracted effort (production, development, testing, and administration) but which is required by DD Form 1423.
Estimated Price - Costs to be included under Group I are those applicable to preparing and assembling the data item in conformance with Government requirements, and the administration and other expenses related to reproducing and delivering such data items to the Government.
b. Group II. Definition - Data which is essential to the performance of the primary contracted effort but the contractor is required to perform additional work to conform to Government requirements with regard to depth of content, format, frequency of submittal, preparation, control, or quality of the data item.
Estimated Price - Costs to be included under Group II are those incurred over and above the cost of the essential data item without conforming to Government requirements, and the administrative and other expenses related to reproducing and delivering such data item to the Government.
c. Group III. Definition - Data which the contractor must develop for his internal use in performance of the primary contracted effort and does not require any substantial change to conform to Government requirements with regard to depth of content, format, frequency of submittal, preparation, control, and quality of the data item.
Estimated Price - Costs to be included under Group III are the administrative and other expenses related to reproducing and delivering such data item to the Government.

Estimated Price - Group IV items should normally be shown on the DD Form 1423 at no cost.
Item 18. For each data item, enter an amount equal to that portion of the total price which is estimated to be attributable to the production or development for the Government of that item of data.
These estimated data prices shall be developed only from those costs which will be incurred as a direct result of the requirement to supply the data, over and above those costs which would otherwise be incurred in performance of the contract if no data were required. The estimated data prices shall not include any amount for rights in data. The Government’s rights to use the data shall be governed by the pertinent provisions of the contract.
