About this file
This document presents the minimum technical specifications for a USFS Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Single Channel Microwave system. The specification establishes requirements for a point-to-point microwave solution utilizing connectorized outdoor units (ODU) with Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) in a master-slave configuration. The system must operate across a wide band frequency range of 4.40 GHz to 4.99 GHz (NTIA compliant) with an overall bandwidth of 4400-5875 MHz and support channel bandwidth up to 45 MHz. The equipment must employ Time Division Duplex (TDD) technology to enable bidirectional communication over a single RF channel without requiring additional channels.
The specification requires support for multiple modulation types including BPSK, QPSK, and QAM up to 256QAM, with data capacity reaching up to 450 Mbps. Security requirements mandate FIPS mode with AES encryption up to 256 bits and upgradable capability. The system must support TDM traffic (E1 or T1) either integrally or through an external network unit and include integral exterior and interior lightning protection. Optional components may include external antennas, mounts, and copper clad CAT5E or higher-grade networking cable with specialized interconnection cabling.
