MEMORANDUM FOR 97 MX/MXOBP

SUBJECT: Aircraft Engine Borescope

1. The 97th Maintenance Squadron has a requirement to purchase an Aircraft Engine Borescope.

The Borescope is required to perform scheduled inspections on the C-17A and KC-135 aircraft engines.

Following is a list of the salient characteristics the borescope must have:

Specifications:

1. Must have 6.1mm x 3.0m video probe system with TrueSight imaging.

2. Must have a gesture-based touchscreen for increased probability of detection and improved efficiency.

3. Must have dual control interface (5.8”) transmissive color TFT WXGA advanced wide view

LCD.

4. Must be daytime readable, optically bonded, multi capacitive Gorilla Glass touchscreen.

5. Must have a high intensity LED light engine.

6. Must have a high-power quiet servo motor driven articulation.

7. Must have a minimum 3-hour interchangeable lithium-ion battery and charging set.

8. Must have 32GB internal memory with dual band Wi-Fi connectivity.

9. Must have two USB 2.0 host A ports, a HDMI video output connector, and a secondary DC port for battery quick swap.

10. Must have dual trigger hard keys for seamless image capture, video recording, and probe control.

11. Must have an integrated quick disconnect hardware for interchangeable handset accessories.

12. Must have a wheeled carry-on case with integrated insertion tube storage reel.

13. Must have Inspection Works Connect (local) software for wireless video streaming and data transfer to iOS or Android devices.

14. Must have Menu Directed Inspection workflow software suite (MDI 2.0), customizable user profiles, and comparison measurement.

15. Must have an embedded help menu for easy access Quick Start Guide and include

Inspection Manager software for viewing and re-measurement.

16. Must have real 3D stereo measurement including point cloud visualization to include length, point to line, depth, area, and multi-segment measurement types.

17. Must have probability of detection enhancement software which includes distortion correction for wide-angle tip adapters, dark boost for dark scene optimization, and color saturation for precise image color adjustment.

18. Must have a 6.1mm forward viewing interchangeable optical tip (120-degree FOV), 6.1mm side viewing interchangeable optical tip (120-degree FOV), 6.1mm stereo measurement side view optical tip (50/50-degree FOV), and 6.1mm stereo measurement forward view optical tip (60/60-degree FOV).

19. Must have a rigid handset hanging hook with 360-degree swivel and integrated quick disconnect which allows for easy hanging of the handset to optimize display viewing angle.

20. Must have a telescoping handset mounting pole kit designed to securely slide into place at the base of the carry-on case to allow for hands free use.
