About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document providing clarifications on the METC Move solicitation (FA301626Q1469) for furniture relocation and storage services at JBSA Fort Sam Houston. The government requires disassembly, relocation, climate-controlled storage, and reinstallation of approximately 2,631 government-owned dormitory furniture items from Buildings 1469, 1475, and 1479. The storage duration will extend up to three years, with some items requiring return to JBSA within approximately one year while others remain in storage longer. The contractor's relocation price must cover both the initial move to storage and the subsequent return move to JBSA, including reassembly.

The government will not provide a final inventory or room-by-room information before work begins; quantities are listed in the Performance Work Statement. Vendors must assess and determine their own warehouse space needs for storing all appliances and furniture in a climate-controlled facility with no specific size, temperature, humidity, security, or fire protection requirements stated. Acceptable transportation includes commercially rented 26-foot box trucks or larger vehicles provided they meet JBSA access, insurance, registration, and security requirements. Item weights range from approximately 20 to 160 pounds, with cleaning standards requiring dusting, damp cloth cleaning, drying, pest and damage inspection, protective covering, and storage in clean, dry, climate-controlled areas. Loading and staging areas will be available in front of the vacated buildings. Quotes are due by September 21, 2026, at 1100 AM CST, with a hard deadline of October 15, 2026 for award with no extensions.
