About this file
This solicitation is for construction services to support installation of replacement and new WiFi access points at the Fort Harrison VA Health Care System campus in Montana. The scope of work includes installing 5,000 linear feet of conduit and raceways, horizontal and vertical penetrations, and fire stopping to enable the NextGen WiFi upgrades. The contractor must verify field conditions, perform all work during normal business hours for 90 days after receiving notice to proceed, and complete conduit and penetration work before the new access point installation date. Submittals required are product data and samples, as-built drawings, and the final central drawing set. Privacy and security policies must be followed.

1 Introduction
1.1 Document Purpose
This deliverable package contains the information gathered during the physical redesign survey activities after the 1-1 AP swap was completed. This includes information about the APs including placement information.
1.2 Facility Size
The wireless project covers a total of 500,002 square feet and includes 813 APs.
The main campus covers 324,436 square feet and includes the addition of 66 new APs to the base of 380 APs for a total of 446 APs (plus 10 spares). 0 covers are required and 0 were installed to protect the APs in the lockdown mental health ward and other areas as necessary, 0 channel adapters to mount APs and 5 angle brackets to change the orientation of the AP from vertical to horizontal.
We provided 0 Predictive designs for the main campus due to COVID restrictions.
The remote sites requiring a Physical Redesign survey are Billings-Majestic HCS which covers 59,885 square feet and includes the addition of 0 new APs to the base of 36 APs for a total of 36 APs. 0 covers were installed to protect the APs in the lockdown mental health ward and other areas as necessary, 0 channel adapters to mount APs and 1 angle brackets to change the orientation of the AP from vertical to horizontal.
The remote sites requiring Predictive surveys covers 115,681 square feet and includes the addition of 134 new APs to the base of 6 APs for a total of 140 APs. 0 covers were installed to protect the APs in the lockdown mental health ward and other areas as necessary, 0 channel adapters to mount APs and 0 angle brackets to change the orientation of the AP from vertical to horizontal.
At sites Building 172 Floor Basement, Building 172 Floor 1, Billings Spring Creek CBOC, Bozeman CBOC, Butte CBOC, Great Falls CBOC, Havre CBOC, Miles City CBOC and Missoula CBOC there are 181 Pre-Installed APs from previous Activation activities. We are accounting for them in the total counts of APs as seen below in Section 8 and Table 9 found in Section 9.
1.3 Coverage Areas
The areas covered by this redesign effort are included in Table 6 in Section 8.
NextGen Technology Refresh Project 2 Version No: 2.2
2 Full Redesign Package Documents
This redesign package includes diagrams of the APs that were swapped and the required redesign APs (AP locations PDF), the tables that specify the APs that expected to be swapped but could not be and APs that were swapped but did not come online, APs that had changes in their installed location, the necessary redesign APs and any exceptions. The redesign package consists of the following documents.
• VA ENT Fort Harrison Redesign - AP Locations PDF: Redesign AP location graphics
• VA ENT Fort Harrison Redesign - Heatmap Report
The rest of the information including exceptions is contained in this document.
3 Access Points Not Swapped or Offline After Swap
This table lists any access points that were not able to be swapped by the TekSynap Team and any APs that were swapped but did not come online. In addition, a layer was added to the AP locations PDF showing the APs that were not online during the survey.
Table 1: Access Points Not Swapped or Not Online
Building Floor AP Remarks
20 1 AP05
The AP was offline during the survey. AP05 requires a new cable pull. Cable is damaged. 5/23 the
AP was back online. Will monitor.
141 2 AP12
The AP was offline during the survey. AP12 requires a new cable pull.
154 Basement AP07 and AP08 The APs were offline during the survey. AP07 and AP08 require new cable pulls.
154 2 AP16
The AP was not swapped in a sterile area where it is above the hardpan ceiling. Per email from the site, this has been left for the installation team.
NextGen Technology Refresh Project 3 Version No: 2.2
Building Floor AP Remarks
154 4 AP16
The AP was not swapped due to patient care. Left with POC to swap when the room becomes available.
4 Access Points to be Moved to Correct Coverage
Some access points will need to be moved to provide the proper coverage levels rather than adding another AP. This table documents the APs that will need to be moved as part of the installation process. The final location of the access points is updated in the site’s VA ENT For Harrison Redesign - AP Locations PDF file.
