Coast Guard Academy Waterfront Division the ability to move sailing vessels and power boats safely around the facility and into the boat house for maintenance and storage.

The SPT must be able to drive easily on the yard surface.

The machine must be able to handle safely and according to the locally applicable safety code, a boat weighing up to 20 metric tons.

The SPT is a high strength steel welded structure, hydrostatic driven system, wireless remote operated control which is equipped with safety devices neutralizing external interferences.

The SPT radio-controlled system should allow for easy maneuverability as proportional speed forward- reverse running, independent front and back lifting and lowering, and independent front and back wheels steering. Wheels sets (4) are self-levelling, balancing and steering being able to turn left or right at an angle of 35° degrees.

The SPT must be equipped with manual an emergency override operating control system as backup control system in the event the remote-control system fails.

The SPT will be equipped with pads mounted to a hydraulic telescoping arms capable of raising to a height of at least 9’-5” for moving sailboats and must be able to rotate up to 180 degrees to meet different hull types. The angle and telescoping length of the arm are to me hydraulically controlled shall be actuated by IQAN and the pads must be self-levelling for positioning on the hull regardless of angle. Each cylinder has it’s own control valve, controllable from the remote and to be protected by a holding valve to prevent the arm from lowering if there is a drop in pressure.

The SPT will have a minimum of two pairs (four total) of moveable pick-up legs capable of lifting, stabilizing and moving vessels while situated in cradles that are 8’ wide x 16’ long.

The SPT will have one pair of Aluminum Crossbars to support carrying boats with keels and no cradles.

The SPT must be completely opened at back allowing for easy positioning and handling without the need of other bulky lifting devices, in this way it provides complete maneuverability in restricted and difficult areas reducing handling time.

The SPT must be able to drive up a grade/slope of 6% fully loaded without problems. The SPT must be able to stop on the ramp and start to ascend again without problems.

The SPT will operate in a salt-water environment, so machine structure needs to Gloss poly Siloxane coating system to meet Coast Guard Spec SFLC-Std-Spec-6310-(2020)
