About this file

This Statement of Need (SON) outlines procurement requirements for the 502d Security Forces Group at JBSA-Randolph for drone detection equipment. The government requires one (1) DroneShield Immediate Response Kit (IRK), which includes a DroneGun MK4A with RFPATROL MK2 WIDEBAND unit, one (1) C2 Tactical Rugged Tablet, and one (1) C2 Tactical Software Configuration. The procurement is driven by DAFMAN 31-102, Paragraph 1.2.8.1, which mandates purchase of a Drone Detection Shield with passive RF detection capabilities. DroneShield is identified as the sole-source provider because its Initial Response Kit is the only product uniquely able to integrate with the required Tactical Awareness Kit (TAK) through use of the Cursor on Target (CoT) format. The product has been tested and approved by AETC and AF/JAOI, Air and International Law Division.

All delivery and work will be performed at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, with the contractor responsible for installation, integration, and training of the security forces group. The contractor must provide two days of certified instructor training and deliver equipment free from defects in materials and workmanship, with standard product warranty included. The requirement reflects the government's need for mobile drone detection equipment with sufficient detection range to cover the vast areas across JBSA's properties while maintaining ease of use and operational integration with existing tactical awareness systems.
