About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal contract solicitation for tram services at MacDill Air Force Base. The solicitation requires a minimum of four open-air trams to transport passengers during a two-day airshow event in March 2024. The trams must be able to hold up to 44 people and provide continuous service throughout the event. One tram company offers 32-seat vehicles but additional trams would be needed to transport the same number of people as 44-seat trams. Pick-up and drop-off locations will vary across the base's seven to eight parking areas, requiring coordination between drivers to establish transport routes. Trams must arrive on-site at least one day before the start of the airshow. Only quotes including pictures of the offered trams will be considered for award.

Q&A: FA481424TF014

Q1: One company has ada equipped trolleys, but, they only hold roughly 32 with the chairs.

Does it have to be 44 seat or 32 will work as well? If 32 is an option, can we still use 4 trams or would we need more?

A1: Trolleys and buses are not as agile as trams they can be very cumbersome moving around pedestrians and traffic. Full size bus or a full size trolley aren`t ideal. Additional trams would be needed to cover the same amount of people.

Q2: Doest it have to be open air trams only, or is it possible to use shuttle busses with wheel chair access (some have 44, some 54 seat capacity)?

A2:

Q3: Can you provide the exact pick-up and drop off location for passengers?

A3: There isn’t an exact pick-up and drop of for the passengers as there are 7-8 different parking areas. The drivers will be on a continuous pick up drop off “route” during the Event. With the coordination of the tram drivers, we will discuss our routes to the parking lots to the event and vice versa to determine the best plan. Once it is awarded, we will share our maps and plans in a force protection sense.

Yes, open Air Trams are more accessible for passengers to get on and off. This will help with expediting pick ups and drop offs.
