About this file
This document outlines the requirements for a timber stand improvement removal contract on the Monongahela National Forest. The contractor will be required to fell trees within eight designated units totaling 184 acres to thin dense stands of red spruce and increase growth of the remaining trees. The units are located along Forest Route 227 in West Virginia. Payment will be based on inspector sampling, with deductions taken if less than 90% of crop tree spacing or felling techniques meet standards. The one-year contract will be awarded by the USDA Forest Service Eastern Region, and partial payments may be approved once two or more units are completed and meet guidelines.
