The tracts can be accessed from public roads and a geo-referenced map is provided. No previous contract information for this work was available. 12444324Q0006 Questions and Answers 16FEB2024

1. Is it possible to do this job with machinery or are you looking for a hand cutting crew? – These areas would require a hand cutting crew.

2. Are there any restraints on when trees can be cut down and when they cannot? – There are no restrictions on the time of year that the trees can be cut.

3. Is there a bid bond or performance and payment bond required? – NO

4. Can we set up a site visit? – Yes, please reach out to Travis Bowman, travis.bowman@usda.gov, to set up a site visit.

5. Do you have an inventory to show the stocking of the tracts involved in the work or do you know the avg DBH and avg stocking level? I did not see a maximum stump height described in the worksheet. Is there a min/max standard? - The stands are heavily stocked with average DBH being 6-8 inches. 6–12-inch stump heights.

6. How old are the stands and what is the size of the trees to be cut? - It is an older stand that is over stocked and stunted.

7. Are we able to look at the areas or are they behind a locked gate? - The units can be accessed from public roads.

8. Do we have Avenza maps for the units that we can share? – A geo referenced pdf – Attachment 3 – TSI_map – is provided.

9. Do you guys know what the last contract for this thinning went for? – I am unaware of a previous contract for this specific work.

10. Are we only supposed to thin/cut the red spruce trees? - The cutting is to release red spruce so you will pick the best red spruce and thin around it 8 feet in diameter and do that throughout each of the stands.

11. Is it possible to get the deadline extended so we can possibly look at areas and get answers to a few more questions? – The bid due date will be extended to 01MAR2024 @ 1700 CT.
