About this file

This is a presolicitation document for a large pure water system procurement by the Water Quality and Ecology Research Unit of the National Sedimentation Laboratory. The facility seeks a reverse osmosis (RO)/Type 3 water system capable of producing 120 liters per hour or up to 2,400 liters per day from municipal potable feed water. The system must feature a standing ergonomic floor design with a maximum footprint of 48.8 x 21.4 x 21.3 inches to fit existing space constraints, and must emit less than 50 decibels at one meter distance due to facility location considerations.

The system must include pretreatment cartridges achieving 95% ionic rejection and 99% particulates rejection for conductivity, along with 99% organic rejection for compounds exceeding 200 Dalton molecular weight to remove particles, free chlorine, and colloids. Additional requirements include an interactive touchscreen interface with operational wizards to eliminate dependence on paper manuals, automatic feed water quality assessment technology to maintain constant flow rate and optimize water recovery between 45-75%, and operation on 120V, 60Hz electricity. The procurement includes initial system installation, technician training, associated travel costs, and shipping costs. The contractor must complete delivery, installation, and staff training within 120 days of award.

Text version

The Water Quality and Ecology Research Unit of the National Sedimentation Laboratory is seeking to procure a large pure water system that feeds into an established reservoir and is then distributed to laboratories within the facility. Feed water for the large pure water system is municipal in source with the potential for pretreatment if necessary.

SPECIFICATIONS

1. Large Pure Water System producing reverse osmosis (RO)/Type 3 water

2. Standing ergonomic design for easy maintenance

3. Footprint must be 48.8 x 21.4 x 21.3 inches to fit in current space

4. Must emit <50 decibels at a 1 m distance due to location

5. Provide pretreatment cartridges that remove particles, free chlorine and colloids

a. Conductivity: 95% ionic rejection (99% particulates rejection)

b. Total Organic Carbon: 99% organic rejection for MW> 200 Dalton

6. Include interactive touchscreen with “wizards” for ease of operation and maintenance avoiding need for paper manuals

7. Includes technology to automatically assess feed water quality to produce a constant flow rate and optimize water recovery (between 45 and 75%)

8. Can produce up to 2,400 liters / day of laboratory-grade water from potable feed water

9. 120 V, 60 Hz electricity

10. Capable of producing 120 liters / hour

11. Initial system installation and associated travel costs included

12. Shipping costs included (if delivered separately from system installation travel)

The large pure water system, capable of producing 120 L of RO/Type 3 water per hour or up to 2,400 L per day, must be ergonomic and a floor model to allow technicians access for cartridge maintenance. Specific system footprint (48.8 x 21.4 x 21.3 inches) must be adhered to for space reasons. Upon successful procurement and execution, system must be delivered, installed, and technicians trained on use within 120 days.
