About this file

This is a specifications document for federal contract 1232SA26Q1426 detailing technical and performance requirements for Zantiks brand (or equal) insect imaging and olfactometer equipment.

The procurement requires two primary systems. The Zantiks LT Z3 is a self-contained unit designed for scripted experiments with rats, mice, zebrafish, and insects, featuring visual stimulus display, audio stimulus, overall lighting, and reward delivery as standard features. It must include a raised well plate stand, locator plates for 4 and 8 well multiwell plates, locator plates for 90 mm and 35 mm Petri dishes, and 16 acrylic lids. Temperature control is limited to a heater-only configuration that maintains 2-8 degrees Celsius above ambient. The Zantiks MWP Z3 is a second self-contained system for running scripted experiments with standard multiwell plates and Petri dishes, designed specifically for zebrafish embryos and larvae, Drosophila (adults and larvae), and similar small organisms. This unit includes temperature control (2-10°C above ambient), vibratory stimulus with two modes for startle and arousal, audio stimulus, LED color-selectable light stimulation for optogenetic studies, and overall lighting. Accompanying equipment includes 2 choice arena plates for flies, 1 side view stand for 16 cuvettes, 10 passive olfactory plates with 6 chambers for flies, 2 active flow olfactometers for flies, and 6 active flow plates.

Performance requirements mandate units capable of tracking control, video recording, multi-stimulus control, raw data recording, and real-time processing with hardware supporting high-speed tracking up to 600 frames per second. Systems must be networked and controlled via web-based console accessible through multiple platforms (Windows PC, Mac, Phone, Chromebook). Equipment must be fully integrated with computer, camera, lens, and IR lighting, requiring only 12V power operation. Additional capabilities include telecentric no-parallax imaging, continuous 30 frames-per-second video tracking for extended periods with XY coordinates and pixel change recording, scripted stimulus control integrated with live tracking, multiple orientation filming capability, optogenetic stimulation integration, responsive annotation features, compact dimensions (20 x 30 x 50 cm), 3D tracking options, and integrated motor-controlled liquid delivery and visual stimulus monitors.

Specifications – 1232SA26Q1426

Zantiks (Brand Name or Equal) Insect imaging and Olfactometer equipment

Technical Requirements

Zantiks LT Z3 (Brand Name or Equal) new unit-complete self-contained system for running scripted experiments good for running experiments with rats, mice, zebrafish, and smaller animals including insects. Must have visual stimulus display, audio stimulus, overall lighting, and delivery of reward as standard. Must have raised well plate stand, locator plates for 4 and 8 well multiwell plates. Must have locator plates for 90 mm and 35 mm Petri dishes and 16 acrylic lids for multiwell plates.

Temperature control heater only for LT Z3 (system blows air through & controls temperature 2-8 degrees C above ambient.

MWP Z3 (Brand Name or Equal) new unit complete self-contained system for running scripted experiments using standard multiwell plates, and Petri dishes. Must be designed for running experiments with zebrafish embryos and larvae, Drosophila (adults & larvae) and similar small organisms. The system should have temperature control (2-10 °C above ambient), vibratory stimulus (2 modes, for startle and arousal), audio stimulus, light stimulation with choice of LED colour (for optogenetic studies), and overall lighting as standard.

2 choice arena plates for flies 1 side view stand for 16 cuvettes 10x passive olfactory plate, 6 chambers for flies 2x Active flow olfactometer for flies ( 1x active flow plate, 1x annular chamber & automated pumping of 4 airflows) 6x active flow plates

Performance Requirements

- The units allow for the control of tracking, video recording, control of multiple stimuli, recording of raw data and real-time processing and recording of results which makes the Zantiks equipment essential.

- Hardware ready for high-speed tracking, up to 600 frames per second.

- Networked systems, controlled via a web-based console that can be accessed in any web browser (Windows PC, Mac, Phone, Chromebook, etc.). Scripts for all Zantiks units can be written in the supplied Zanscript language. Standard scripts are provided and custom ones can easily be written in the web console.

- Fully integrated unit including computer, camera, lens, and IR lighting

- Requires only 12 V power for operation

- Telecentric (no parallax) imaging allows for unobstructed viewing within wells across a plate.

- Continuous video tracking at 30 frames per second for days, XY coordinates and pixel change.

- Scripted stimulus control (lights, motors, relays) integrated with live tracking, & further expansion capabilities at low cost.

- Integrated temperature control (heater only)

- Ability to use units in multiple orientations (filming from above/below, from left/right, from front/back).

- Optogenetic stimulation and control thereof integrated within system

- Responsive annotation of video recording and data from within script.

- Small size (20 x 30 x 50 cm).

- Options for 3D tracking without additional cameras.

- Integrated motor controlled via the integrated software for food reward liquid delivery or vibrations.

- Integrated monitors for visual stimuli from top/bottom/sides controlled via the integrated software.
