About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the replacement of storage shelving at the Peterson SFB Youth Center, Building 1555. The project requires supplying and installing a new rolling hand crank storage shelving system that maximizes storage capacity and improves organization and safety for personnel and children ages 9-18. The contract encompasses three primary tasks: (1) removing existing shelving, (2) delivering new shelving components within 8 weeks of contract award, and (3) professionally installing the new system with rigorous safety testing.
Key requirements include a shelving system with specific safety features like anti-tip mechanisms, safety stopping mechanisms, and smooth operation (requiring less than 10 lbs of force to move a fully loaded shelf). The project must be completed within 90-180 days after contract award, no later than September 30, 2025. The shelving system comes with a 10-year warranty, includes permanently shielded and lubricated bearings, and requires an annual maintenance plan for the first 36 months. Work will be performed at the Peterson SFB Youth Center in Colorado Springs, with strict safety protocols, base access procedures, and specific work hour restrictions.

The Contractor shall ensure the installed system meets applicable to follow the manufacturer’s specific safety guidelines, and resists tipping. The Contractor shall demonstrate safe operation of the hand crank and train the Youth Center Facilities Manager. The safety stopping mechanism will be tested by placing an object of 48” x 24’ and 72” x 24”/ 300 LSB per shelf between moving shelves to verify that the mechanism engages and prevents further movement.
Milestone 3: Complete installation, including testing (visual inspection, stability/levelness verification, operational testing under full load, and testing of the safety stopping mechanism) and inspection, within 10 to 20 days of delivery.
Milestone 4: Verify proper track installation and smooth operation. The Facilities Manager will verify operation by moving each fully loaded unit. The Contracting O icer will be notified in writing.
