The contractor shall be responsible for providing and operating any hoisting equipment needed to move and install the new furniture and removing existing furniture.

*It is important to note that the building will be occupied at time of removal and installation. Therefore, the project may have to be completed in stages, with no rooms being left uncompleted at the close of any given business day. Also this is a three story building with no elevators. A lift is highly recommended.

Attachment 2 – Statement of Work
STATEMENT OF WORK
DESIGN/SUPPLY NEW DORM FURNITURE – Dorm 854 (142 Rooms)
Design / Supply / Removal / Installation:
A) Scope: The 96th Civil Engineering Group at Eglin Air Force Base has a need for the design, furnishing, and installation of new furniture in Dorm 854. All manufactures shall certify in writing that all furnishings and equipment meets the warranty requirements and the specifications stated. All items, including case goods, tables, and chairs, shall carry a minimum ten-year standard commercial warranty against product defect or poor workmanship. The manufacturer will repair or replace all items found defective at no cost to the government.
B) Supply: The contractor shall be responsible for supplying all supervision, labor, materials, equipment, tools, insurance, permits, licenses, transportation, drayage, hoisting, all other aspects of material handling, layout, safety control and regulation compliance to provide the required furniture, as outlined below in this section.
All furniture provided shall meet or exceed the following characteristics:
All pieces of furniture shall be new, free from defects affecting safety, appearance, durability, and serviceability and in conformance with the specifications. All items shall be "first" quality goods. Factory "seconds" will not be accepted. All exposed wood surfaces shall be free of splices, loose knots, torn grains, checks, or defects of any kind. Adjacent parts in any piece of furniture shall be closely matched in wood species, color and grain pattern.
No fiberboard, particleboard, or hardboard shall be used in any part of the furniture or in any plywood component unless specifically noted. Exterior surfaces and exposed interior surfaces shall be Birch solid hardwood. All framing materials shall be Birch solid hardwood.
All joints must be stronger than the substrate itself and must resist racking and withstand loading.
Lamination shall consist of planks no less than 19 mm (3/4") or more than 100 mm (4") in width.
Adhesives shall conform to ASTM D-905 average block shear strength of not less than 19 300 kPa (2800 lbs per square inch) when tested.
Tops shall have a High Pressure Laminate top surface, and have a minimum overall thickness of 19 mm (3/4") thick Birch veneer core hardwood. The core must be provided with a Birch solid hardwood lumber band on all 4 sides. The top must be completely sealed from moisture by use of the laminate, the lumber band, and a backer sheet
Drawer fronts shall be a minimum of 19 mm (3/4") Birch solid hardwood. Drawer sides and backs shall be a minimum of 12 mm thick Birch veneer core hardwood with no voids and shall have a sealed UV finish. Edges shall be finished smooth.
Side panels shall be a minimum of 19 mm (3/4") Birch solid hardwood. All exposed edges shall be finished.
Backs shall be finished plywood.
All exposed panel edges must be finished as specified for side panels, including all bottom edges to eliminate the possibility of water penetration and wicking through the core material.
All wood shall be stained with a DCI Ginger Root or Equal Wood Stain.
TV Stand with a minimum of two drawers and DVD Shelf. 19"d x 32"w x 30"h.
Nightstand, with a minimum of two drawers, 16"d x 22"w x 23"h.
Desk with minimum of three pedestal drawers and one pencil drawer, pedestal drawers on located on the right, power strip containing 3 outlets, 2 USB ports and adjustable glides. High Pressure Laminate Top with Radiussed Internal Edge Band. 24"d x 42"w x 30"h.
Desktop Bookcase, 10"d x 40"w x 45"h. One fixed shelf and one adjustable shelf. 3 Grommets Fluorescent Light. Cork or fabric back under lower shelf.
Twin XL Pop-Top Bed, w/ Two connected Under bed Storage Drawers. Front Panel, headboard and footboard must be 3/4" solid Birch hardwood. The interior bed structure shall be no less than ¾” hardwood veneer-core plywood. The bottom shall also be a minimum of ¾” hardwood veneer-core plywood. All drawers shall be made of Birch solid hardwood fronts.
Drawer sides shall be English dovetailed, made out of a minimum of 15mm multi-ply, have ½” plywood bottom and 20” full extension runners capable of supporting a minimum of 200lbs.
Drawers shall be Half Moon Plunge Pull (top of fronts) with metal inset. Corners of storage bed shall be reinforced with powder coated metal corner brackets, the bottom shall have nylon adjustable glides for leveling, ventilation slots in front and rear panels for air circulation. The bed surface only shall have a hasp loop for padlock with both the bed surface and drawers gang locked automatically. Pop-Up bed with zero clearance wood slat sleeping surface and metal frame. Slats to be 1/2" x 9" wide and bolted to metal frame for added security. The frame shall have pneumatic lifting cylinders mounted to the hinging mechanism for lifting assist. A metal handle shall be attached to the front of the perimeter frame and a mattress retaining bar secured to the back of the perimeter frame to keep the mattress in place.
Headboard, The headboard shall be 42"L x 2-5/8"d x 42"h and at a minimum ¾” Birch solid hardwood.
Bar Stool, shall be solid birch Hardwood with swivel seat, flat back and metal hoop foot ring.
The foot ring shall be black in color. 17” d x 17.5"w x 44.5"h (Seat Ht. 28.5"). See Attached Picture
Utility Table, 24" Diameter Wood Top, approx. 41" High. Metal base. The top is a solid Butcher Block birch 1-1/2” thick with no plastic or laminated edge. Table tops are protected with 1 coat of catalyzed vinyl sealer and 2 coats of catalyzed conversion varnish, semi-gloss. Base Spider Size: 12", 15", 24", Column Size: 3", 4", Base Plate: 22", 22x30", 30", 36", Standard Height:
28.5", Bar Height: 40.75" Spider Material: Cast Iron, Column Material: Steel, Sustainability: All base plates and spiders should be made with 100% recycled material, powdercoat finish contains no VOCs. See attached picture.
C) Furniture Installation/Moving: The contractor shall be responsible for supplying all supervision, labor, materials, equipment, tools, insurance, permits, licenses, transportation, drayage, hoisting, all other aspects of material handling, layout, safety control and regulation compliance to install new furniture and move existing furniture, as outlined below in this section. A typical dormitory room configuration shall consist of a bed/w under bed storage, night stand, two drawer chest, desk/w desktop bookcase and the shared kitchenette has two bar stools & utility table. Please note that each dormitory has three floors with no elevators, as seen in the attached diagrams. The contractor shall be responsible for providing and operating any hoisting equipment needed to move and install the new and existing furniture. *It is important to note that the building will be occupied at time of removal and installation. Therefore, the project may have to be completed in stages, with no rooms being left uncompleted at the close of any given day. Also this is a three story building with no elevators. A lift is highly recommended.
1. Remove Furniture from 854 and transport to DRMO or place in Dumpster:
- Disassemble and remove captain’s bed and group pieces together transported to DRMO or place in dumpster.
- Remove under bed storage to be transported to DRMO or place in dumpster.
- Remove Carrel Unit off of desk to transport to DRMO or place in dumpster.
- Remove desk unit to be transported to DRMO or place in dumpster.
- Remove nightstand to be transported to DRMO or place in dumpster.
- Remove TV wall unit to be transported to DRMO or place in dumpster.
- Remove Utility Table unit to be transported to DRMO or place in dumpster. .
- Remove Bar stools to be transported to DRMO or place in dumpster. .
- Transport all removed furniture to Eglin DRMO or place in dumpster.
Furniture if taken to DRMO will have to be done in stages by appointments.
Appointments will be coordinated and arranged by Furnishing Management Section.
Furniture may have to be stored in order to accommodate these appointments and transport full loads to DRMO. Should this be a need, the contractor shall be responsible for providing the necessary amount of storage solutions required to store the furniture until it has been transferred to DRMO’s possession. Though it is not a required storage solution, contractor provided storage solutions may be staged and kept on designated Eglin property until they have been completely emptied, at which point the contractor will be notified that they are ready to be removed from Eglin property.
Installation Dorm 854:
- Install and assemble new Pop-Top Bed w/ Two connected Under bed Storage Drawers
- Install and assemble new carrel unit on top new desk.
- Install new nightstand.
- Install new Chest/TV stand
- Install new Utility Tables.
Install new Bar Stools.
