About this file

This document is Attachment 2 of a federal solicitation containing Salient Characteristics for Mobile Dehumidification Carts designed for multiple USCG airframes under contract number 70Z03826QE0000052.

The dehumidification units must be mobile carts capable of producing 300 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of processed air to reduce relative humidity within aircraft to 30-40% RH within one hour and maintain this level for a minimum of eight hours daily. Each unit shall automatically regulate supplied air regardless of ambient conditions and feature electric reactivation capability with a closed-loop system. The maximum noise level is 85 decibels at zero feet during operation. The cart dimensions must not exceed 72 inches (H) x 33 inches (W) x 72 inches (L) to pass through industrial personnel doors, and shall include parking brakes, solid nonmetallic tires, anti-vibration barriers, and secure wiring with neoprene-gasketed access panels. Power requirements are dual standards: 208-240VAC/3ph/60Hz or 440-480VAC/3ph/60Hz at 60 amps maximum, with standard 50-foot SOOW power cables (expandable to 100 feet). All electrical components must be mounted above 18 inches from floor level for NFPA Class I, Division 2 compliance and carry UL or ETL certification. Standard 8-inch process air inlet and outlet connections are required with optional 4-inch reducers available. The cart shall be painted white polyurethane per MIL-PRF-85285 with tropical rust proofing suitable for coastal/high-humidity environments, include a 100-foot grounding reel, identification markings, and an identification plate containing manufacturer information, model number, serial number, and contract number. Units must dock and undock from aircraft within five minutes and withstand commercial transportation without damage.

▪ Mobile Dehumidification (DH) unit.

o 300 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of processed DH air.

o Reduces relative humidity (RH) within the aircraft to a target zone (30-40% RH) within one (1) hour.

o Once docked to an aircraft, unit automatically regulates (30-40%) supplied RH air to the aircraft regardless of ambient temperature and humidity.

o Achieve 30-40% RH for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day.

▪ Test ports for process airflow.

o Electric reactivation of dehumidifier.

o Closed loop system.

o Doors and access panels gasketed with neoprene.

▪ Maximum of 85 decibels (db) @ 0 feet while operating.

▪ Unit mounted on mobile roll-around pushcart.

o Maximum dimensions: 72 inches (H) x 33 inches (W) x 72 inches (L)

▪ Dimensions of cart and mounted components are designed to enter through industrial personnel doors of the hangars.

o Parking brake(s).

o Enclosure for duct and adapter storage while not in use.

o Power Cord hangar for storage when not in use or for movement.

o Pushcart handle or handrail for manual movement.

o Solid, Nonmetallic and non-pneumatic tires.

o Anti vibration barrier between removable basket and mounts to avoid chaffing.

o Secure and route wiring to avoid chaffing, abrasion and heat sources direct and indirectly.

▪ DH unit and pushcart constructed and/or rated for an indoor environment / use.

▪ All electrical components and connections mounted above 18” from floor level for use in NFPA Class I, Div. 2 environments.

o National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), NFPA 70 National Electrical Code; Chapter 5. Special Occupancies;

Article 513; Aircraft Hangars and NFPA 505, Fire Safety Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks; Including Type

Designations, Areas of Use, Conversions, Maintenance, and Operations, Chapter 4. Hazardous (Classified)

Locations.).

o UL or ETL listed and approved electrical equipment.

▪ Power requirement: two (2) standards;

o 1.) 208-240vac/3ph/60hz and 2.) 440-480vac/3ph/60hz, 60 amps maximum.

o Power cord: Standard: 50 feet (SOOW) power cable (bare end; no plug).

▪ S = Service

▪ O = Oil-Resistant Conductors

▪ O = Oil-Resistant Jacket

▪ W = Water-Resistant o Option to increase to 100 feet (SOOW) power cable (as identified by specific location needs).

o CG will provide the power cord plug for each unit once delivered to destination.

▪ Standard 8” process air inlet and outlet (for most CG aircraft applications).

▪ Optional reducer from standard 8” inlet / outlet to 4” hoses (for use with existing hose and aircraft adapter setup (4” for small helicopter)).

▪ Aircraft hoses and aircraft interface adapters (AIA) will be procured and supplied by CG unit at final delivery destination.
