About this file

The document is a Salient Characteristics file for a Deployment Gear Issue for Joint Task Force – Support Forces Antarctica. The procurement requires equipping up to 450 deploying personnel with extreme cold weather gear, specifically: 1 pair of boots, 1 jacket, and 1 set of bibs per personnel. The gear specifications are comprehensive, including requirements such as Arctic rating (down to -22F to -49F), lightweight construction, waterproofing, wind resistance, and specific color options (Black, Coyote, or Multicam/OCP). Each item must have specialized features like removable inner boot systems, integrated hoods, adjustable suspenders, and featherless insulation to reduce weight.

The items will be issued to the National Science Foundation via PAE (New Zealand) Limited, located at Gate 1, 45 Orchard Road North, Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand. The gear is part of Solicitation Number FA521525Q0021, issued by the Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces, and is structured as a Request for Quote (RFQ) for commercial items. The solicitation seeks eligible vendors to provide 450 units each of jackets, bibs, and boots that meet the detailed extreme cold weather (ECW) specifications outlined in the salient characteristics document.
