About this file
This announcement is a solicitation for a Directed Energy Technology Experimentation Research Advanced Research Announcement open to companies interested in developing directed energy technologies. The Air Force Research Laboratory is seeking proposals and white papers for research and development, modeling and simulation, design, prototyping, fabrication, assembly, integration, testing and experimentation of directed energy sources, acquisition tracking and pointing systems, beam control systems, atmospheric compensation systems, effects testing, wargaming, modeling and simulation, space domain awareness technologies, and laboratory materials and services to support experimentation. Proposals are requested for nine topic areas including directed energy sources, beam control technologies, weapon systems integration, effects testing, modeling and simulation, wargaming, space surveillance, experiment support, and laboratory supplies. This is an open announcement with no defined end date. Responses will be evaluated through a two-step process involving white papers and full proposals. Awards will be made using contracting vehicles including FAR-based contracts, other transactions, and grants/assistance instruments.

RD In-House Facilities* Enable Experimentation & Testing
• Davis Advanced Laser Facility (DALF): Multiple laboratories for modeling, simulation, research, development and testing of novel lasers and laser concepts
• Environmental Laser Test Facility (ELTF): External multi-km range and test facility allows the propagation of lasers safely to distant test objects
• High Energy Microwave Laboratory (HEML): Large anechoic chamber used for high power microwave effects testing
• High Power Microwave Sources Laboratory: Used to test and characterize high power microwave sources and amplifiers
• High Energy Radiation Test Facility (HERTF): Used to test and characterize high power microwave sources and system prototypes
• SIM Lab: computational analysis of real word and projected real world scenarios for wargaming, military utility analysis and studies
• WARS Lab: Provides additional HPCC and classification capabilities similar to
SIM Lab
• Starfire Optical Range (SOR): one of the world’s premier adaptive-optics telescopes capable of tracking low earth objects
• Maui Space Surveillance System (MSSS): a state of the art electro-optical facility, the MSSS uses visible and IR sensors and telescopes to collect images of near-earth and deep space objects
