Pilot Scale Mixer Background and Scope The USDA Biologics Development Module requires a pilot scale mixer designed for small scale production in research institutions that needs to be light and easily operated with a capacity of up to 50 liters.

Applicable Documents and Standards A. Contractor must warranty the proper function, parts, software, and workmanship of the pilot scale mixer for 1 year as part of the initial purchase price.

The Pilot Scale Mixer Specifications One (1) Each laboratory mixer brand name or equal to Silverson AX5 Series Pilot Scale Mixer Characteristics:

1. Must be suitable for a wide range of applications such as mixing, emulsifying, homogenizing, disintegrating, and dissolving with efficiency and flexibility.

2. Must have a capacity of up to 50 liters

3. Must have variable speed control and feature a “speed lock” system to be able to maintain the required speed as product viscosity rises or falls during operation.

4. Must provide a touch screen control with digital tachometer, programmable integral timer and amperage display.

5. Must offer a comprehensive range of interchangeable work heads and screens.

6. Must have a 1hp (750W) 110-volt, single phase (220 volt optional), 60 Hz motor that can operate up to 8000 rpm or 6000 rpm under a full load.

7. Must be well constructed with easily cleanable, sturdy, and resistant materials and coatings.

Testing and Verification Qualification via a customer site acceptance test will be the verification standard.

Data Requirements Required documentation must include operation manual, software manual, software installation procedures. Required software for operation must be included.

Package and Shipping All packaging, shipping, and shipping-insurance costs must be included with purchase price.
