About this file
This document is a technical brochure for Geobrugg's rockfall drape protection systems, featuring high-tensile steel wire mesh designed to control and guide rockfalls away from infrastructure like roads and railways. The rockfall drapes are made from steel wire with a strength of 1770 N/mm2, capable of protecting rock slopes up to 100 meters high and handling rockfall incidents of several cubic meters. The system uses spiral rope anchors to fix support ropes, with mesh panels hung over rock slopes to safely channel rockfalls into designated runout zones.
Geobrugg offers a comprehensive safety package that includes consulting, planning support, production, implementation, and all-round care services. The TECCO® G65/4 mesh system is European Technical Approval (ETA-17/0117) certified, with corrosion protection via a GEOBRUGG SUPERCOATING® of 95% Zinc/5% Aluminum. The company emphasizes extensive testing, flexibility, and durability, with mesh rolls measuring 11.5 ft wide, 98.4 ft long, covering 1,130 sq ft, and weighing approximately 764 lbs per roll. The product is designed to provide reliable protection while minimizing environmental impact and maintaining a low carbon footprint.

Rockfall drapes made of high-tensile steel wire
THE SAFE AND ECONOMICAL
WAY TO GUIDE ROCKFALLS
Wherever roads, railway lines or other infrastructures need to be protected against rockfall our drapes made from high-tensile steel wire nets are a perfect economical solution. They allow rockfalls to be controlled and guided into the deposition zones.

HIGH EFFICIENCY –
RELIABLE SAFETY.
Over the crest of the rock face spiral rope anchors are used to fix the support rope. For example TECCO® or SPIDER® panels are connected to the support rope and hung over the rock slope. Rockfall events are controlled underneath the durable mesh and are safely and reliably guided into the designated runout zones.
Depending on local conditions our TECCO® rockfall drape is suitable for rock slopes up to a height of more than 100 m and incidents of several cubic metres. All mesh types are made from high-tensile steel wire with a strength of 1770 N/mm2 offering the required resistance and flexibility.

Durable thanks to high resistance: Our nets and meshes have a wire tensile-strength of over
1770 N/mm2 and can withstand high dynamic loads without big deformation.
Full system tested
The performance and behavior of the rockfall drape can be fully calculated with all its components, as it has been extensively tested as a complete system.
Approval
ETA approval with CE mark according to EAD230025-00-0106.
Matching mesh to the rockfall intensity
Optimum cost/performance ratio, as the required protection can be achieved with different netting such as with TECCO® meshes whose small aperture means no secondary mesh is required.
Easy installation
Our meshes and nets have an excellent strength to weight ratio and are easy to transport.
They allow easy unrolling for a quick and simple installation. Even high slopes/faces are protected with minimal impact to the natural environment and minimal carbon footprint.
Corrosion protection
Our systems are designed to last for generations and require very little maintenance. For particularly demanding environments we offer our products also in stainless steel.
QUALITY YOU CAN
RELY ON.
Geobrugg rockfall drapes provides the following features:
Our flexible meshes and nets made out of high-tensile steel wire are the ideal products for rockfalll drapes. The wire is extremely durable against mechanical stress, while at the same time the mesh is sufficiently flexible to absorb impacts. These properties allow the mesh to be hit by falling rocks without any serious damages.

Rockfall, slides, mudflows and avalanches are natural events and therefore cannot be calculated. This is why it is impossible to determine or guarantee absolute safety for persons and property with scientific methods. This means that to provide the protection we strive for, it is imperative to maintain and service protective systems regularly and appropriately.
Moreover, the degree of protection can be diminished by events that exceed the absorption capacity of the system as calculated to good engineering practice, failure to use original parts or corrosion (i.e., from environmental pollution or other outside influences).

DROP FORGED WIRE ROPE CLIPS
“CHICAGO” the Trade-Mark of quality in wire rope fittings is embossed on all forged steel clip bases. This identification symbolizes wire rope clips that are manufactured to rigid specifications. Component parts are galvanized. U-bolts, with or without nuts, price on application.
1. The correct way to attach wire rope clips is illustrated above. Apply the first clip one base width from the dead end of the wire rope. The base or saddle should bear on the line end of the rope – U-bolt on the short end. Tighten nuts firmly.
2. Attach second clip as close to loop as possible. Tighten nuts but not firmly.
3. Attach balance of clips spaced equally between first two clips. Tighten all nuts completely. Apply initial load – inspect nuts and retighten. Inspect all clips periodically.
The number of clips shown is based on using right regular or Lang lay wire rope, 6x19 class or 6x37 class, fibre core IWRC, IPS or XIPS. The number of clips shown also applies to right regular lay wire rope, 8x19 class and 18x7 class, fibre core, IPS or XIPS, sizes 1-1/2-inch and smaller.
If Seale construction or similar large outer wire type construction in the 6x19 class is to be used for sizes 1-inch and larger, add one additional clip. For other classes or wire rope not mentioned, it may be necessary to add additional clips to the number shown. If more clips are used than shown, amount of rope turn back should be increased proportionately.
