About this file
This is a Determination & Findings document authorizing a single-source acquisition by the Air Force Department of Washington (AFDW/11 CONS). The acquisition is valued at $99,032 for a wireless in-ear monitoring system.
The contracting officer determined that only the Sennheiser Spectera system meets the Government's requirements based on its proprietary DECT technology capability to support up to 64 channels of wireless microphone or in-ear functionality within a 6 MHz band. The system's bidirectional wireless microphone and in-ear capability in a single transceiver is not matched by any other professional audio manufacturer, and this technology is essential for the USAF Band to operate effectively in a spectrally dense environment. The justification for sole-source procurement is authorized under RFO 11.204(a)(2)(ii) (Brand Name) and RFO 13.101(b) (Noncommercial Products and Services), with the Contracting Officer serving as the approval authority. The determination was signed by 1Lt Britt Taylor, USAF Contracting Officer, on August 24, 2026.
