About this file
This document contains specifications for heated chicken cages (brooders) designed for housing baby chickens (broilers and layers). The specifications require a multiple-level, double-sided unit with 16 individual cages, comprised of two mobile cage units with 8 individual housing environments per unit. Key technical requirements include cage units that fit through a 36-inch wide by 80-inch high door opening, two adjustable drinkers, individual feeders, removable litter pens, a brooding area of approximately 3 square feet, and clear polycarbonate doors with a vinyl temperature-maintaining curtain.
Additional specifications mandate removable heaters with digital temperature controllers, dimmable LED lighting, individual cage spaces of at least 8.1 square feet, and cage materials capable of withstanding autoclaving. The delivery address for these specialized brooder units is 10300 Baltimore Ave., Building 229, in Beltsville, Maryland 20705. The comprehensive requirements suggest these are research-grade or laboratory-specific chicken housing units with precise environmental control and management features.
