About this file

This document is a set of Questions and Answers related to a federal fiber optic replacement contract opportunity. The key details are:

The customer has provided building floorplans and cable test results to assist vendors in understanding the existing fiber infrastructure and pathways. The customer confirms that old fiber must be removed, but the existing pathways can be reused. The customer also provided details on the underground fiber pathway from Building C to the Fabrication Shop building, which is approximately 1000 feet and runs through concrete. Testing standards for the new 3-channel (6-strand) OS2 singlemode fiber are to be based on typical OS2 requirements. The scope calls for 84 total splices, including 12 splices for the Fabrication Shop fiber run. The customer is open to vendors proposing the most suitable fiber type (plenum, armored, etc.) for the different runs. The new fiber will connect to the customer's unclassified network infrastructure.

Questions and Answers:

• Can you provide construction drawings of the building with the current fiber pathways and riser details?

o Please find the attached Building Floorplans. I do not have a current conduit run diagram based on the Floorplan.

o The attached Floorplan identifies the Telecom Rooms, Demarcation Room, Data Center and Fabrication Shop.

The Telecom closets have current conduit running to each with pulls available to the Demarcation Room

The Fabrication Shop, Building F, has conduit runs but is run through the concrete.

Attached is the recent PC cable test we had done onsite that details testing from DEMARC to 1st Floor East, 2nd Floor East and 2nd Floor West with distances to provide further details for reference.

§ These are the approx. distances we used for estimating purposes. These distances do factor in some waste and service loops as needed.

• -1st Floor East Telecom Room 1021 - 250'

- 1st Floor West Telecom Room 1105 (Same Room as DMARC - on South side of room) - 75'

- 2nd Floor East Telecom Room 2007 - 300

- 2nd Floor West Telecom Room 2175 - 125

- 3rd Floor East Telecom Room 3165 - 350

- 3rd Floor West Telecom Room 3033 - 175

- Data Center Room 1111 - 150

• Can you confirm the old fiber needs to be removed, if so are allowed to reuse the old pathway?

o No old fiber can remain.

o Yes, re-use of old pathways would be used and advised

• Regarding the fiber pull to the fab shop, are there drawings for this building?

o Yes, I have attached the FabShop drawing that we have.

o Please let me know if you have any more questions in regard to what we have available to pride

• What is the nature of the 1000' pathway from building C to the fab shop? (i.e., underground, above ground, etc.)

o Yes, this is under concrete.

o The Fabrication Shop, Building F, has (2) 4" PVC conduit runs.

o This path stems out from Building C to a Communications Manhole / Service in the ground and then from that point out to Building F in the network room o In the (2) 4" pulls, we can see available pulls from the Communication / Manhole Service from Building C to this network room, see photos attached.

• Do you have details on testing standards for the fiber?

o What kinds of testing standards?

o We had a previous onsite visit for current cable testing and determined that new 3 channel (6 strand) OS2 Singlemode fiber would be the best fit for the length and speeds we are trying to obtain

This should adhere to typical OS2 testing standards

• The scope lists 84 splices total, however the Fab Shop section calls for 12 splices. We believe these 12 are calculating both sides of the 6-strand going to the Fab Shop and are part of the total 84, please confirm.

o Yes, this would include both sides.

o Ideally, this fiber runs between building C and F. So, if it is cost efficient to have a secondary fiber run together to use then this can also be looked at on a quote.

• Do you have a specification on the fiber that will be used (plenum, armored, etc.)?

o 3 channel (6 strand) OS2 Singlemode fiber o Other specifications being asked we would lean on the vendor to supply best option for use cases like plenum or armored types for the different runs like internal from DEMARC to TELECOM or from DEMARC to Fab Shop o What network is this fiber connected to (classified or unclassified)? Or are these brand-new runs?

o Unclassified. But this would also be for new runs to tie into an existing infrastructure.

The new fiber runs would tie into current network switching.
