SECTION 01 11 00 SUMMARY OF WORK
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION:
1. Hurricane Ridge Road is 18 mile long road located within Olympic National Park in
Washington State. It is a scenic drive that offers breathtaking views and connects the park's visitor center to the Hurricane Ridge area. The road begins near Port Angeles, WA, just a short drive from the city's downtown area, making it easily accessible to visitors coming from Port Angeles.
The Work of this contract consists of the preparation and re-painting of approximately
190,080 linear feet of solid white fog line and approximately 190,080 linear feet of yellow centerline on Hurricane Ridge Road. Pavement marking material shall be Type B
Waterborne traffic paint with Type 1 glass beads on roads.
Work shall include:
A. Establishing and maintaining rolling traffic control for the duration of the project.
B. Street sweeping/other required pavement preparation
C. Striping approximately 190,080 LNFT of solid white fog line and 190,080 LNFT solid yellow centerline on Hurricane Ridge Road.
1.2 LOCATION:
1. Hurricane Ridge Road in Port Angeles, WA 98362
1.3 CONTRACTOR’S USE OF PREMISES:
1.Construction Camp: Establishment of a camp within the park and at this location will not be permitted.
2.Work Hours: Work hours are from 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday. Weekend work will normally not be allowed. No work will be authorized during the Ride the Ridge
Event on August 2, 2026. See section 1.6.2 for more information.
Seasonal work restrictions relating to T&E species apply see section 1.6.2. General
Wildlife Protection Requirements
3.Confine storage of materials to the area as indicated during the pre-construction meeting as part of this contract. Coordinate deliveries so that deliveries fit available storage area.
4.The following conditions shall be followed during the Contractor's work while in the park:
A. To prevent unnatural attractants to bears, and corvids (crows. Ravens) no foods, garbage, drinks, trash, or food and drink containers shall be placed outside trailers or buildings, except during actual use. Any mishandling of garbage, trash, foods, and other potential bear attractants described above will result in the responsible person or Contractor receiving a
FY26 Road Striping 01 11 00-3 Summary of Work citation subject to a fine or court appearance before the U.S. Magistrate. Repetition of mishandling or any case of deliberate feeding will result in loss of in-Park operation privileges
B. Pets are prohibited.
5. Preservation of Natural Features: Confine all operations to work limits of the project. Prevent damage to natural surroundings. Restore damaged areas, repair or replace damaged trees and plants (per direction by NPS arborists and horticulturists), at no additional expense to the
Government.
6. Vehicles/Heavy Equipment: Vehicles / Heavy Equipment:
A. Rules of the Road: All vehicles and heavy equipment will comply with posted traffic regulations, including speed limits. Failure to comply with traffic regulations will result in a citation being issued to the driver.
B. Vehicle Parking: The contractor shall park vehicles and heavy equipment in designated areas as established at the preconstruction meeting.
C. Driveways and Entrances: The contractor shall keep driveways and entrances serving the premises clear and available to the government, government employees, and emergency vehicles at all times.
D. Vehicle Exhaust: Idling will be kept to no longer than 5 minutes. All vehicles will be properly maintained to ensure that the exhaust produced is within legal limits. Effects of excessive vehicle exhaust may be subject to enforcement of State and Federal laws regarding emissions as well as those regarding threatened and endangered species.
E. Spills: The Contractor shall be responsible for any cleanup efforts required in accordance with 40 CFR and all applicable state environmental quality laws regarding disposal and cleanup of hazardous / industrial wastes. The Contractor must immediately notify the
Contracting Officer of spills.
F. DOT Compliance: All vehicles are to be compliant with all DOT requirements including but not limited to driver with appropriate license class, medical examiner card as appropriate with license class, carrying three (3) triangles or three (3) flares, mounted fire extinguisher, and valid DOT safety sticker.
1.4 FIELD VERIFICATION: Field verify all new and existing dimensions and utilities affecting the work of this Contract before ordering products.
1.5 CONTRACTOR-FURNISHED ITEMS: All materials shall be Contractor-furnished from outside the park.
1.6 Threatened and Endangered Species and Resource Protection.
1.6.1 Dirt, Plant, and Foreign Material

Remove dirt, plant material, and other foreign material from all vehicles and equipment prior to entry into Olympic National Park to prevent the introduction and spread of noxious weeds and non-native plant species. Cleaning shall comply with applicable Federal land management agency requirements and Washington State requirements. Maintain cleaning and inspection records and make them available to the Contracting Officer (CO) upon request. Hauling vehicles shall be cleaned prior to initial entry into the park. Subsequent entries shall not require cleaning unless requested by the CO. Notify the CO a minimum of 48 hours prior to entry to allow for inspection.
1.6.2. General Wildlife Protection Requirements
A. Comply with the following requirements at all times during contract performance:
B. Do not disturb any wildlife species, including but not limited to reptiles, migratory birds, raptors, or bats, found nesting, hibernating, estivating, or otherwise living in, or immediately adjacent to, work sites.
C. Confine staging, parking, and storage of vehicles, equipment, and materials to paved overlooks and parking areas as directed by the CO.
D. Keep all food, trash, and refuse secured from wildlife at all times to prevent accidental feeding and wildlife habituation.
E. Report any cougar sightings or wildlife interactions immediately to Olympic National Park at
OLYM_Wildlife_Reports@nps.gov
3. Threatened and Endangered Species and Mitigation Measures
The project area is within or adjacent to habitat for federally listed species, including Marbled
Murrelet (MAMU) and Northern Spotted Owl. The Contractor shall comply with the following mitigation measures:
A. Core Noise Hour Restrictions:
Between April 1 and September 23, work activities that produce noise levels exceeding 80 dBA at 100 feet shall not begin until two hours after sunrise and shall cease two hours before sunset.
For nighttime work, activities producing noise levels exceeding 80 dBA at 100 feet shall not begin until two hours after sunset and shall cease two hours before sunrise.
For this project this work above the doubles parking lot on Hurricane is outside Murrelet habitat.
B. Remove all materials, including trash and food waste, from project sites daily to reduce the attraction of predators and corvids (including crows, ravens, and jays).
C. Store all food, toiletries, and other potential wildlife attractants, including petroleum products, antifreeze, and personal hygiene items, in wildlife-proof containers or within enclosed construction equipment, except during actual use.

D. Do not disturb, feed, or approach any wildlife species found nesting, hibernating, or otherwise occupying or immediately adjacent to the work area.
E. Do not allow construction equipment to idle for more than five (5) minutes, except as required for safe operation or as directed by the CO.
1.7 Traffic Control
The Contractor shall furnish, install, maintain, and remove all temporary traffic control devices required to safely perform the work. Traffic control must comply with the Manual on Uniform
Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), FP-24 requirements, and applicable National Park Service standards. The park recommends the use of rolling traffic control.
1. Traffic control operations shall be appropriate for a mountain roadway with limited sight distance and limited pullouts and shall include, but not be limited to, advance warning signs, channelizing devices, flaggers, pilot vehicles, and temporary lane closures as required. Operator and supervisors must be certified to work in Washington state.
2. Traffic control shall be coordinated to maintain safe access for park visitors, emergency vehicles, and park operations at all times. Traffic shall not be held longer than 20 minutes.
Rolling traffic control methods may be used where approved by the Contracting Officer (CO).
3. The Contractor shall submit a Traffic Control Plan (TCP) for review and approval prior to mobilization. Traffic control costs shall be included in the contract price unless identified as a separate bid item.

MEETINGS
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 PRE-CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE: Before start of construction, Contracting Officer will arrange a meeting a meeting with Contractor. The meeting agenda will include the following as a minimum:

SECTION 01 33 23 SUBMITTAL
PROCEDURES
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of submittal requirements before and during construction.
1.2 RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Closeout submittals - Section 01700.
1.3 PRODUCT DATA, AND SAMPLES:
1.General Procedures:
A. Coordinate all submittals and review them for legibility, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract requirements. Forward submittals that are related to or affect one another as a package to facilitate coordinated review.
B. List submittals on National Park Service form CM-16. Identify the front of each sheet or item with the submittal and item number.
C. Submittals will not be accepted for review if identification is missing an incorrect number of submittals are submitted, the transmittal form is incorrectly filled out, submittals are not coordinated, or submittals do not show evidence of Contractor's approval.
D. Contracting Officer reserves the right to require submittals in addition to those called for in individual sections.
2.Specific Procedures:
A. Samples: Samples shall be large enough to clearly illustrate the functional characteristics and full range of color, texture, or pattern.
B. Manufacturers' Literature: Submit only pertinent pages; mark each copy of standard printed data to identify products referenced in specification section.
3.Contracting Officer's Review:
A. After approving submittals, Contracting Officer will return one copy to the Contractor.
B. If submittals are not approved, Contracting Officer will return one copy to Contractor with reasons for rejection. Resubmit, identifying changes.
C. Any work done before approval shall be at Contractor's own risk.
1.6 SIMILAR PRODUCTS OR APPROVED EQUAL:
1. For each item proposed as a "similar product or approved equal," submit items required in each section and additional supporting data, including:
A. Drawings and samples as appropriate.
B. Comparison of the qualities of the proposed item with that specified.
C. Changes required in other elements of the work because of the substitution.

D. Name, address, and telephone number of vendor plus Manufacturer's literature regarding installation, operation, and maintenance, including schematics for electrical and hydraulic systems, lubrication requirements, and parts lists.
2. No pre-bid approvals will be made. Any submittal of a "similar product" constitutes a representation that the Contractor:
A. Has investigated the proposed item and determined that it is equal or superior in all respects to that specified.
B. Will provide the same warranties for the proposed item as for the specified item.
C. Has determined that the proposed item is compatible with interfacing items.
D. Will coordinate the installation of such item and make all changes required in other elements of the work because of such item.
E. Waives all claims for additional expenses that may be incurred as a result of the use of a
"similar product".
3. New Construction Materials: The Contractor is encouraged to submit for approval products made out of recycled or environmentally responsible material. Every effort will be made by the National Park Service to approve these materials.

Section 01 35 23 SAFETY AND HEALTH
REQUIREMENTS
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION: The Contractor shall comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local safety and health laws, regulations, and standards, including but not limited to OSHA requirements, FAR 52.236-13 (Accident Prevention), and National Park Service (NPS) Reference Manual 50B, Chapter 21, Contractor Operations.
1. 2 Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP)
Prior to the start of any on-site work, the Contractor shall prepare and submit a Site-Specific Safety
Plan (SSSP) for Government review/acceptance. No work shall begin until the SSSP has been reviewed and accepted by the Contracting Officer or Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
Government review/acceptance is administrative only and does not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for safety and health compliance, nor does it transfer liability to the Government.)
At a minimum, the SSSP shall include:
• Project description and work location(s)
• Identification of a designated competent person with authority to enforce safety requirements and Name/phone of on-site superintendent/foreman and safety representative/competent person; signature/approval page (preparer/approver, title, date)
• Defined roles, responsibilities, and lines of authority for safety
• Emergency contacts and medical response information
• Accident and incident reporting procedures
• Public and visitor risk mitigation measures
• Applicable safety plans and procedures relevant to the work
• Hazard Communication/SDS access requirements for chemicals brought on site (paint, beads, fuels, cleaners)
• Severe weather/environmental contingency planning (pause-work criteria appropriate to
Hurricane Ridge conditions)
The SSSP shall be maintained on site (or in a readily accessible location for mobile operations) at all times and updated as conditions or work activities change..
1.3 Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
The Contractor shall prepare Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for all definable features of work prior to performing those activities. JHAs shall identify job steps, hazards, and hazard control measures.
JHAs shall be provided for, at a minimum:
• Traffic control installation and removal
• Striping operations

• Equipment mobilization and operation
• Material handling and paint application
• Work performed adjacent to live traffic or visitors
Work shall not proceed until applicable JHAs have been reviewed with the work crew and submitted to the Government for review. Government review does not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for identifying hazards, implementing controls, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and contract requirements.
1. 4 Traffic Control and Public Risk Management
The Contractor shall develop and implement a Traffic Control Plan (TCP) in accordance with the
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and NPS requirements.
The Contractor shall:
• Protect the public, visitors, and NPS staff from construction hazards
• Provide signage, cones, barriers, flaggers, and other controls as required
• Coordinate traffic control activities with the COR and park staff
• Maintain safe pedestrian access where applicable
• Ensure traffic control supervisor and flaggers hold current certifications required by
Washington State and any Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for this work (e.g., flagger and/or traffic control supervisor as applicable).
1.5 Emergency Response and Medical Support
The Contractor shall identify emergency response procedures in the SSSP, including:
• Emergency contact numbers
• Location and directions to the nearest emergency medical facility
• On-site first aid provisions
• Identification of personnel trained in first aid and CPR
Emergency information shall be posted at the work site and readily accessible to all workers. For mobile operations, emergency contact information, directions to the nearest emergency medical facility, and emergency procedures shall be maintained in a readily accessible location (e.g., lead vehicle binder).
1.6 Accident and Incident Reporting
All accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage shall be reported to the COR as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours after occurrence.
The following require immediate notification to the COR:
• Fatality
• Permanent total or partial disability
• Overnight hospitalization of one or more persons
• Amputation
• Loss of an eye
• Damage to NPS property

The Contractor shall investigate all incidents and submit a written report with findings and corrective actions within five (5) working days.
1.7 Enforcement and Stop-Work Authority
The Contractor is responsible for enforcing all safety requirements for its employees and subcontractors. The COR or designated NPS representative has the authority to stop work for unsafe conditions. The Contractor shall also stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are observed.
Work shall not resume until corrective actions have been implemented and the Government has been notified of corrective actions. Government review/acceptance of safety submittals is administrative only and does not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for safety and health compliance.
1.8 Safety and Health Submittals
The Contractor shall submit the following safety-related documents to the Government for review and acceptance. No on-site work may begin until required submittals are accepted.
Required Submittals (Prior to Mobilization)
1. Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) o Project-specific safety plan meeting the requirements of this section o Identifies competent person, emergency procedures, and public protection measures
2. Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) o One JHA for each definable feature of work o At a minimum, JHAs shall address:
▪ Traffic control setup and removal
▪ Striping operations
▪ Equipment operation and material handling
▪ Work adjacent to live traffic or visitors
3. Traffic Control Plan (TCP) o MUTCD-compliant plan appropriate for the work location o Includes signage, channelization devices, flagging (if required), and pedestrian protection o Traffic control supervisor and flaggers shall hold current certifications required by
Washington State and any AHJ for this work (e.g., flagger and/or traffic control supervisor as applicable).
4. Emergency Information Sheet o Emergency contact numbers o Nearest hospital name, address, and directions o Identification of on-site first aid/CPR-trained personnel
PART 2: PRODUCTS
2.1 FIRST AID FACILITIES: Provide adequate supplies for the number of employees and the type of construction at the site.

2.2 PERSONNEL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Meet requirements of NIOSH and MSHA, where applicable, as well as ANSI.
2.3 BARRIERS: Section 01 53 00.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS: Post telephone numbers and reporting instructions for emergency services in conspicuous locations at the work site.
3.3 PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
1. Inspect personal protective equipment daily and maintain it in a serviceable condition. Clean, sanitize, and repair, as appropriate, personal items before issuing them to another individual.
2. Inspect and maintain other protective equipment and devices before use and on a periodic basis to ensure safe operation.
3.4 SAFETY MEETINGS:
1. As a minimum, conduct weekly 15-minute "toolbox" safety meetings. These meetings shall be conducted by a foreman and attended by all construction personnel at the worksite.
2. Conduct monthly safety meetings for all levels of supervision. Notify the Contracting Officer so that he may attend. These meetings shall be used to review the effectiveness of the
Contractor's safety effort, to resolve current health and safety problems, to provide a forum for planning safe construction activities, and for updating the accident prevention program. The
Contracting Officer will enter the results of the meetings into his daily log.
3.5 HARD HATS AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AREAS:
1. A hard hat area will be designated by the contractor. The hard hat area shall be posted by the
Contractor in a manner satisfactory to the Contracting Officer.
2. It is the Contractor's responsibility to require all those working on or visiting the site to wear hard hats and other necessary protective equipment at all times.
3.6 TRAINING:
1. First Aid: Provide adequate training to ensure prompt and efficient first aid.
2. Hazardous Material: Train and instruct each employee exposed to hazardous material in safe and approved methods of handling and storage. Hazardous materials are defined as explosive, flammable, poisonous, corrosive, oxidizing, irritating, or otherwise harmful substances that could cause death or injury.

SERVICES
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of providing temporary services required for Contractor's performance of the work of this Contract.
PART 2: PRODUCTS
2.1 GENERAL: Temporary materials may be new or used but must be adequate in capacity for the required usage, must not create unsafe conditions, and must not violate requirements of applicable codes and standards.
2.2 FIRE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT: Utilize fire extinguishers that are appropriately classified for the specific environment in which they are situated.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 TELEPHONE:
1.No telephone service is available onsite for Contractor's use. The project sites does have cellular phone coverage.
3.2 WATER:
1.Potable water is not available at the site.
3.3 SANITARY FACILITIES:
1. Contractor shall provide temporary restroom facilities.
3.4 FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION:
1. A capable and qualified person shall be placed in charge of fire protection.
2. Hazard Control: Take all necessary precautions to prevent fire during construction. Do not store flammable or combustible liquids in buildings. Provide adequate ventilation during use of volatile or noxious substances.
3. Spark Arresters: Equip all gasoline or diesel-powered equipment used in potential forest or grass fire locations with spark arresters.
4. Locate internal combustion equipment so that exhausts discharge well away from combustible materials.
5. Shut down equipment before refueling.
6. Smoking: Smoking on the construction site is prohibited.
3.5 PROTECTION EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
1. Vehicles and Equipment: Provide one extinguisher on each vehicle or piece of equipment.

1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of providing temporary controls.

PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 HOUSEKEEPING:
1. Keep project neat, orderly, and in a safe condition at all times.
2. Provide enough containers for collecting construction debris and construction materials to be recycled. Food storage and disposal must meet Park regulations.
3. The Contractor is encouraged to provide individually marked containers for recycling personal items, such as aluminum cans, newspapers, plastic, corrugated cardboard. These items may be recycled by the Contractor or turned over to the park recycling committee.
Demolished roof material shall be taken to local metal recycling.
4. Keep volatile wastes in covered containers.
5. Routine magnetic sweeps of the jobsite are encouraged, to minimize hazards to humans, animals and vehicles.
3.2 DISPOSAL:
1. Immediately remove hazardous rubbish from project site. Place other construction debris in refuse containers at least daily. Dispose of refuse at least weekly, in a legal manner, at public or private dumping areas outside the park. Do not burn or bury refuse inside the park.
3.3 AIR AND WATER POLLUTION CONTROL:
1. Take all necessary reasonable measures to reduce air and water pollution by any material or equipment used during construction.
2. Do not dispose of volatile wastes or oils in storm or sanitary drains.
3. Do not allow waste materials to be washed into streams or bodies of water.

PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 STRUCTURES: Locate where directed by Contracting Officer, a minimum of 20 feet from permanent structures.
3.2 REMOVAL: Remove structures, equipment, and furnishings, and terminate services after punch list is 100 percent completed or when directed by Contracting Officer.

PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of the general procedures for handling, storing, and protecting material and equipment.
1.2 TRANSPORTATION AND HANDLING: Arrange deliveries of materials in accordance with construction schedules; coordinate to avoid conflict with work and conditions at the site.
Deliver materials in undamaged condition, in manufacturer's original containers or packaging, with identifying labels intact and legible. Contractor is encouraged to obtain materials in biodegradable or recyclable/ reusable packaging which uses the minimum amount of packaging possible.
1.3 LOCATION: Materials and equipment to be used must be stored within the contract limit line, unless specifically approved by the Contracting Officer.
1.4 STORAGE AND PROTECTION: Store materials in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, with seals and labels accessible for inspection. Conform to specific requirements in individual sections in addition to those listed below.
1. Interior Storage: Maintain temperature and humidity within the ranges required by manufacturer's instructions.
2. Exterior Storage:
A. Store products subject to damage by the elements in weather tight enclosures.
B. Store fabricated products above the ground, on blocking or skids; prevent soiling or staining. Cover products subject to damage or deterioration with impervious sheet coverings; provide adequate ventilation to avoid condensation.
C. Store loose granular materials in a well-drained area on solid surfaces to prevent mixing with foreign matters.
3. Protection After Installation: Provide adequate covering as necessary to protect installed materials from damage resulting from natural elements, traffic, and subsequent construction.

SECTION 01 70 00 PROJECT
CLOSEOUT
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of final cleanup, closeout submittals, and final inspection procedures.
PART 2: PRODUCTS
2.1 CLEANING MATERIALS: As recommended by the manufacturer of surface to be cleaned.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 CLEANING: Remove all tools, equipment, surplus materials, and rubbish. Restore or refinish surfaces of existing facilities that are marred, scratched, or damaged due to the work of this contract to match original condition. Remove grease, dirt, stains, foreign materials, and labels from interior and exterior finished surfaces. Sweep paved areas, rake grounds. At time of final inspection, project shall be thoroughly clean and ready for use.
3.2 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS: Submit before final inspection request.
1. Guarantees and Bonds: As specified in individual sections.
2. Spare Parts and Materials: As specified in individual sections.
3.3 SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION AND FINAL INSPECTION: Submit written certification that project, or designated portion of project, is substantially complete, and request in writing a final inspection. Contracting Officers Representative will inspect within 10 days of receipt of request.
1. When Contracting Officers Representative determines that Work is substantially complete, they will prepare a list of deficiencies to be corrected before final acceptance and issue a Letter of Substantial Completion.
2. If Contracting Officers Representative determines that the Work is not substantially complete, they will immediately notify Contractor in writing, stating reasons. After completing work, the Contractor shall resubmit certification and request a new final inspection.
3.4 ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK: After all deficiencies have been corrected, a Letter of
Acceptance will be issued.
3.5 POST-CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION: Before expiration of warranty period, Contracting Officer will inspect project and notify Contractor in writing of all deficiencies.

32 17 23.13 Pavement Markings (Painted)
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION: The requirements of this section consist of painted markings applied to pavement.
1.2 REFERENCES:
1. Whenever the words "Standard Specifications" are referred to, the reference is to the
U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration Standard
Specifications for Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects
(FP-24).
2. Refer to FP-24 standard specifications, section 634 for pavement markings and section
718 for paint and glass bead specifications.
3. Signing and striping to meet the requirements in the latest edition of the Manual on
Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
1.3 Quality Control
1. General: The Contractor is responsible for quality control and shall ensure pavement markings comply with the Contract Documents, FP-24, MUTCD, and National Park Service requirements.
2.. Quality Control Manager: The Quality Control Manager, identified in the proposal, shall oversee inspections and has authority to stop work for nonconforming conditions.
4. Inspections: The Contractor shall verify surface cleanliness prior to striping and confirm markings are correctly located, aligned, sized, and uniformly applied.
5. Deficiencies: Nonconforming work shall be corrected at no additional cost to the Government.
6. Records: Daily QC inspection records shall be maintained and submitted daily to the COR.

PART 2: PRODUCTS
2.1 PAINT:
1. Pavement markings are Type B (Waterborne traffic paint with Type 1 Glass Beads).
2. Paint colors shall comply with the specifications listed in section 718.10 of the
FHWA standard specifications (ASTM D1729).
3. Paint reflectance shall meet the minimum luminance factor requirements of ASTM D6628, as measured in accordance with ASTM E1347.

2.2 GLASS BEADS:
1. Conform to AASHTO M 247 for Type 1 Glass Beads. Treat glass beads with an adherence coating as recommended by the manufacturer.
2.3 PROHIBITED MATERIALS: Traffic paint shall not contain mercury, lead, chromium, diarylide pigments, toluene, chlorinated solvents, hydrolysable chlorine derivatives, ethylene-based glycol ethers and their acetates, nor any other EPA hazardous waste material over the regulatory levels per CFR 40 Part 261.24.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 STRIPING AND MARKINGS
1. Painted pavement markings shall comply with FP-24 Section 634.03 and 634.5.
A. Apply one coat of paint when pavement and air temperatures at 50oF and rising. Refer to and follow manufacturer’s guidelines for application in other weather conditions, including high wind and relative humidity.
B. Do not heat paint above 120oF. Spray paint at a 15 mil minimum wet film thickness or at a rate of 102 square feet per gallon.
C. Apply glass beads at the rate, type, and timing according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and immediately following marking application to ensure adhesion.
D. Protect markings from traffic until dried to a no-tracking condition. Remove tracking marks, spilled marking material, markings in unauthorized areas, and defective markings
