STATEMENT OF WORK
Bureau of Land Management
Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area
Unit B – Office Floor Tile Removal & Floor Repair
140L0621Q0042
INTRODUCTION
Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Eastern States, Southeastern States District requires constructions services to remove tile flooring from both a main conference room and breakroom
(kitchen) of the Office (Unit B) at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area.
BACKGROUND
The BLM’s Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse office is in a converted 1960’s era ranch style concrete block building previously used by the USCG for housing service members. The flooring in the unit’s conference room (formally the lounge) and breakroom (formally the kitchen) is ceramic tile over terrazzo flooring. The flooring became damage in late 2019 when tiles buckled upwards, became loose from the thinset and in places cracked. The cracked and loose tiles were removed to minimize the risk of a tripping hazard however the uneven floor continues to pose a risk to the safety of staff and office visitors.
SCOPE OF WORK
The project consists of the removal of tile from approximately 766 sq ft of space, clean-up of any remaining thinset or adhesive, the repair (if needed) of the underlaying terrazzo flooring, and the final preparation, polish and sealing of the terrazzo. All demolished tile and other materials must be removed from the site.
LOCATION
Unit B is located within the ONA, along Coast Guard Way within the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse compound (600 State Road 707, Jupiter, FL 33469). The site is accessed from I-95 (Exit 87A) or the Florida Turnpike (Exit 116) via Indian Town Road proceeding east, then north/right on Alt.
A1A and across US.1/Federal Highway. This Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Compound is accessed via
Coast Guard Way, the second right on Beach Road (also known as Country Road/State Road
707) after crossing US.1/Federal Highway.
Access to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse compound is restricted via an automatic gate. Access codes will be provided; however, all work must occur with BLM staff onsite during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 7:30am – 3:30pm).
Work shall occur only during the routine business hours for the Office location, unless other arrangements for the convenience of the government to minimize disturbance to office staff are made.
