About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a Liquid Nitrogen Air Separation Unit (LNASU) procurement for NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center. The objective is to acquire a fully functional, modular, skid-mounted cryogenic air separation unit - specifically the Nikkiso Cosmodyne PINE 8 - with a liquid nitrogen production capacity of 86 metric tons per day. The base equipment includes components such as feed and recycle compressors, air treatment and turboexpander modules, a cold box with distillation columns, plant control system, and analytical instrumentation.

The technical requirements specify liquid nitrogen with ≤100 ppm oxygen purity, operating at 31.25 psig and -300.5°F, with total power consumption ≤2,280 kW. Optional equipment includes spare expander rotating assemblies, a motor control center, soft starters, an evaporative cooling tower, and vacuum jacketed piping. Delivery is set for no later than 18 months after order receipt, with a 12-month warranty from commissioning. The procurement includes comprehensive services such as commissioning, testing, field support, and on-site operator training, with NASA reserving the right to inspect all materials and construction methods.
