The contractor is also required to install a sensor/button-controlled roller shutter door, make necessary modifications to the surrounding area, and dispose of all debris properly.
The work must be completed by October 2024 and is subject to security, safety, and environmental requirements. The government will provide single phase 230V power and access to on-site facilities for the contractor. Install new x-ray baggage conveyer Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall, Passenger
Terminal, Bldg. 598 Oct 2024
1.0 Introduction
Mission
The 727 AMS is a subordinate unit of the 721 Air Mobility Operations Group (AMOG) and is the sole Air Mobility Command (AMC) en route location in the United Kingdom. 727 AMS is a component of AMC under the combatant command (COCOM) of US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and operates the Arial Port for the movement of cargo and passengers.
1.1 Background
The 727 AMS is the single AMC presence in the United Kingdom. It is key to the rapid movement of cargo/passengers for all USAFE UK agencies. In FY21 the unit purchased a new x-ray machine for the check-in area at the passenger terminal. The new x-ray met the AMC specification to be able to x-ray the large mobility bags. It wasn’t unit, the x-ray was installed in situs that it was realized that the baggage conveyer was very much smaller that the width capacity of the x-ray machine.
1.2 Scope
The contractor shall provide all the necessary, transportation, equipment, power tools, materials, labor, loading/unloading and supervision required to provide a material handling baggage conveyer system compatible with existing Sovex check-in equipment. Existing baggage conveyer will need removing and disposed off-site, and a wider baggage conveyer is required to be installed in its place to allow for the oversized deployment bags to operate with AMC standard x-ray machines.
Specifications for Baggage Conveyer and shutter doors as follows:
• Baggage conveyer should measure 1040mm wide by 3360mm long. The conveyer belt should be slopped to meet the level of the exiting x-ray machine which is 609.6mm high to mitigate a drop between the x-ray machine and the conveyer baggage belt. The new baggage conveyer should be integrated into the existing check-in scales operating system to allow passenger service operatives to be able to control the baggage conveyer from their counter area. Bagge conveyer should be compatible with standard UK 230 voltage.
• Provision and installation of sensor/button-controlled roller shutter door. Roller shutter door should be a minimum of 1200mm wide by 1270mm tall to allow for deployment bags to transition through them to the baggage conveyer in the fleet baggage build-up area behind the check-in counter. Roller shutter door should be painted white to coordinate with existing decor. Surrounding wall around existing shutter door will require widening and lintel installed to provide structural support as required.
• Contractor should make good all surrounding areas of baggage conveyer and shutter door after the new ones have been installed to include any plastering, painting or mastic as required to fill holes etc.
• Contractor will be required to cut existing carpet tiles to size to accommodate wider baggage conveyer and make flooring good afterwards. Replacement carpet tiles can be provided if required.
