About this file
This Specifications Document from the Roman L. Hurska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) details requirements for two small steam sterilizers to be used in scientific laboratory settings. The sterilizers must have a 20 x 20 x 38" chamber, manual vertical sliding or hinged door, temperature range of 110°C to 135°C, programmable steam exposure up to 120 minutes, and an integrated electric steam generator. Specific requirements include a control panel with internal steam deflection, capability to sterilize wrapped/unwrapped hard goods, liquids, and biohazardous waste, and minimum 75 psig steam heating.
The key deliverable is two Laboratory Steam Sterilizers to be delivered within 45 days of award, with installation completed within 45 days of delivery. The procurement can be satisfied by either Consolidated Sterilizer Systems (Model SSR-3A) or PRIMUS Sterilizer Company (Model A single door). The government point of contact is Rong Wang at (402)762-4228 or rong.wang@usda.gov. The sterilizers will be used by scientists developing technologies to prevent meat product contamination by foodborne pathogens, specifically for sterilizing bacterial growth medium, experimental tools, small equipment, and inactivating microbials in lab waste.

Specifications
Specifications Document: Sterilizer Systems
1.0 Background and Purpose:
Scientists at the Roman L. Hurska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) are developing scientific information and new technologies to prevent meat product contamination by foodborne pathogens. As part of the effort, they require autoclaves to sterilize bacterial growth medium, experimental tools and small equipment, and to inactivate all microbials in lab waste.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
2.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
Small Steam Sterilizer o Scientific Laboratory Steam Sterilizer o Steam-jacketed small sterilizers with a chamber size of 20 x 20 x 38” (508 x 508 x 965 mm).
o Manual operated vertical sliding door or single door hinged.
o The selectable temperature range is from 110oC to 135oC and from 104oC to 135°C for liquid cycles with temperature control of liquid load.
o Programmable for times up to 120 minutes of steam exposure.
o The program settings must be accessed controlled and can be communicated with an on-board printer to document cycle information.
o Control panel must have an internal deflection routes steam vapor and moisture away from the electrical control.
o Typical applications include wrapped and unwrapped hard goods, liquids (media and reagents), and biohazardous waste.
o Single Door Cabinet with steam heating (minimum 75 psig steam required) and an integrated standard electric steam generator utilized on the unit fed with softened water (208 or 240 Volt, 25 – 45 kW).
o Maintenance service contract is optional.
o Standard Piping: Brass and Copper Threaded.
Requirement can be met with two Consolidated Sterilizer Systems (Model SSR-3A) or PRIMUS Sterilizer Company (Model A single door).
