About this file

This Specifications Document details sterilizer system requirements for the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC), a USDA facility developing technologies to prevent meat product contamination. The technical requirements specify two laboratory steam sterilizers with precise technical specifications: steam-jacketed units with a 20 x 20 x 38" chamber size, manual vertical sliding or single hinged doors, temperature ranges from 110°C to 135°C, programmable up to 120 minutes of steam exposure, and an integrated electric steam generator. The sterilizers will be installed in separate buildings, with one recessed through a wall and the other free-standing.

Key deliverables include the procurement and installation of two Laboratory Steam Sterilizers within 45 days of award, meeting specific technical requirements for sterilizing bacterial growth medium, experimental tools, small equipment, and inactivating lab waste microbials. The document notes that the requirement can be met with two specific sterilizer models: Consolidated Sterilizer Systems Model SSR-3A or PRIMUS Sterilizer Company Model A (single door). The government point of contact is Rong Wang at rong.wang@usda.gov, located at the USMARC facility in Clay Center, Nebraska.

Specifications

Specifications Document: Sterilizer Systems

1.0 Background and Purpose:

Scientists at the Roman L. Hurska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) are developing scientific information and new technologies to prevent meat product contamination by foodborne pathogens. As part of the effort, they require autoclaves to sterilize bacterial growth medium, experimental tools and small equipment, and to inactivate all microbials in lab waste.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

2.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
