About this file
This Statement of Requirements details the USDA-ARS Chemistry Research Unit's acquisition of chromatography automation and dynamic headspace equipment for their Gainesville, FL facility. The document specifies the procurement of a GERSTEL LabWorks Platform for an Agilent 8890 GC, which must include a Universal Sample Introduction system, Multi-Purpose Sampler with 10 automated sample introduction capabilities, and specific hardware components like a robotic autosampler, headspace option, Thermal Desorption Unit, and Cooled Injection System. Additional required items include a Smart Solid Phase Micro Extraction Automation Kit, multiple Tube Conditioners, various Thin Film Solid Phase Microextraction devices, Dynamic Headspace options, and sampling vessels. The minimum requirements mandate full integration with the existing Agilent GC-MS system, thermal desorption design without transfer line valves, a non-selective focusing trap, and a single software package. The system must be delivered, fully assembled and installed at the USDA Chemistry Research Unit in Gainesville, FL, with all associated shipping, delivery, and installation costs included.

Statement of Requirements
Project: Acquisition of Labworks chromatography automation and dynamic headspace
USDA-ARS
Center for Medical, Agricultural, and Veterinary Entomology
Chemistry Research Unit
1700 SW 23rd Drive
Gainesville, FL 32608
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: delivery and installation of automated robotics and dynamic headspace collection and injection systems for existing gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS instrumentation
2.0 Background: the automation of liquid and gas injections and the accompanying thermal desorption hardware and ancillary consumables will greatly reduce the time spent by Chemistry Research Unit
(CRU) personnel working under NP304 research projects. Additionally, the acquisition of the dynamic headspace collection and injection system will enable the researchers to incorporate a streamlined and automated system, thus increasing work efficacy and increase in publishable research results
