SECTION C

SUMMARY OF WORK

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

Work for this project consists of resurfacing up to 2.70 designated miles of Circle Road

NFSR 203 per Base Item and Optional Items for additional work on same segment of roadway to a fourteen (14) foot wide roadway, in preparation for furnishing, hauling, and placing approximately 2,445 cubic yards of specified Grading Designation C (FP-24 Table 703-1) aggregate base course found in Section 703 of the Specs and Shown on the Drawings. Blade the placed specified aggregate base course to provide a smooth running surface with a centerline crown. Reference (FP-24) Standard Specifications for Construction of Roads and Bridges and as shown in the Specifications and Drawings.

Work to be completed shall be as shown in the Schedule of Items and described as follows:

Base Item:

-Recondition a designated 2.5 mile of roadway to provide for a fourteen (14) foot wide running surface. Compaction Method A.

-Design quantity payment.

-Deliver and place 2.5 miles of specified aggregate base course to a twelve (12) foot wide running surface, 4” inch compacted depth and 1’ foot taper each side. This equates to approximately 2,220 cubic yards compacted in place. Compaction Method A.

Option Item 1:

-Recondition an additional designated 0.2 mile of roadway to provide for a fourteen (14) foot wide running surface. Compaction Method A.

-Lump sum quantity payment.

-Deliver and place additional cubic yards of specified aggregate base course to a twelve

(12) foot wide running surface, 4” inch compacted depth and 1’ foot taper each side.

This equates to approximately 180 cubic yards compacted in place per mile. Compaction

Method A.

Option Item 2:

-Excavation of four (4) lead-off ditches, estimated at 30 linear feet (LF) each, as located by the Government.

-Actual Quantity payment.

Option Item 3:

-Construction of six (6) turnouts and placement of specified aggregate base course, estimated at 15 cubic yards of native material for the turnout base and 7.5 cubic yards of specified aggregate base course each. Turnouts will be located by the Government.

-Actual Quantity payment.

1.2 LOCATION

A. This project is located within the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands, Bessey Ranger District. Beginning from US Highway 2 and Purdum Avenue, Halsey NE travel west on US Highway 2 approximately 1.5 miles to US Highway 86B. Turn left on US

Highway 86B and travel south approximately 2.6 miles to NFSR 203 Circle Road on south side of road. Base Item work begins at Mile Post (MP) 3.0. Option Item work begins at the end of Base Item work and continues west on NFSR 203 to MP 5.7. The Government shall locate and mark the designated sections of work as described.

1.3 GENERAL SITE CONDITIONS AND WEATHER

A. The elevation of the site is approximately 2,700 feet above mean sea level. The construction site experiences snowfall and cold temperatures, with snow on the ground commonly from mid-November through March.

1.4 USE OF PREMISES

A. General: Contractor shall have full use of premises for construction operations, including use of Project site, during construction period. Contractor's use of premises is limited only by the

Government's right to perform work or to retain other contractors on portions of Project.

B. Contractor shall at all times conduct his operations to ensure the least inconvenience to the public and employees. Closures will be permitted, when required, upon written approval by

Bessey Ranger District (BRD) and Contracting Officer (CO).

C. Contractor shall provide adequate signing and barricades according to MUTCD and take necessary safety measures to protect the public during all construction operations. Contractor shall minimize disturbance of all undisturbed areas.

D. Existing Utilities: The Contractor is responsible for notifying all untility companies of proposed locations and times of excavation prior to starting work.

E. Contractor shall remove all equipment, trash, materials, and other items associated with the work within 7 calender days of final acceptance of work and prior to final payment being processed by the CO.

1.5 MEALS AND LODGING

A. Meals and lodging are commercially available in the Cities of Halsey and Thedford, Nebraska within 5 to 15 miles of the construction site. Meals or lodging will not be available at Forest

Service facilities.

1.6 CAMPING

A. With approval by the Bessey Ranger District, National Forest Service lands may be used by the Contractor to have one fully contained recreation vehicle which may remain at this site for the duration of this project for security purposes.

1.7 CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE

A. Construction season will begin May 1, 2026 and end June 30, 2026 as weather allows.

B. Depending on conditions, normal fire restrictions may apply to activities associated with this project.

1.8 FIELD VERIFICATION

A. Field verification of the roadway condition shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.

Locations to turn-around haul vehicles must be approved by the Contracting Officers

Representative (COR) prior to start of work.

1.9 PERMITS

A. Any permits for hauling as required by local, County, State, or Federal laws or regulations shall be obtained by the Contractor.
