1. Purpose:

This statement of work (SOW) outlines the basic requirements of the Repair North and South Hangar Doors, FTFA24-MM01.

2. Background:

The project is located on Eglin AFB, Building 110. This project resulted from two (2) surveys that were conducted during a previous project (FTFA21-VH43). These surveys were conducted due to the discovery of excessive wear on several operating components of the northside and southside hangar doors. All parts that are to be removed/replaced were identified in these surveys. There are a total of two (2) hangar doors, northside and southside. Each hangar door consists of sixteen (16) wire ropes (.88” or 7/8”) with a 6x36 wire rope construction, sixteen (16) horizontal sheave assemblies, sixteen (16) header sheave assemblies, seven (7) trolley assemblies, and a total of sixteen (16) counterweight sheave assemblies (8 each per counterweight). Each wire rope runs the entire span of the hangar, allowing one end to be connected to the counterweight and one end connected to the front of the hangar door.

The hangar doors are considered a “canopy-style” door. All part numbers were provided by the original manufacturer, International Door, Inc. (Byrne Door Division).

3. Description of Work:

The contractor shall furnish all parts, labor, tools, materials, plans, and transportation necessary to remove and replace the operating components of both the northside and southside hangar doors at Building 110 that have been identified as worn beyond limits. All operating components of both hangar doors are located above ceiling (approx. 50’). Some components of the operating system can weight up to +200 lbs and will require proper aerial lifting equipment for removal/replacement. There are several access doors located throughout the ceiling that will allow for part removal/replacement execution. Only one door should be disabled at a time to allow for continued operational use for aircraft maintenance. On the basis of design, the government used specific OEM parts from International Door, Inc.
