About this file

This is a Statement of Objectives (SOO) issued by the Office of the Base Civil Engineer at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada for Building 252 Paint Booth #1 environmental controls and HVAC system replacement, dated January 8, 2025. The existing paint booth system, which has a 1,200 square foot cross-sectional area and 100% outside air design at 75 FPM, needs to be upgraded to meet current OSHA requirements.

The project requires installation of new equipment including an exhaust plenum with NESHAP and carbon filter grids, LED lighting, and access doors; two backward curve USF exhaust fans (19,850 CFM each); two exhaust air energy recovery coil boxes; two recirculation fans (40,150 CFM each); and two Model TA-125 custom direct fired make-up air units (20,000 CFM). The system will be converted to a 33/67 recirculation design. Additional requirements include installation of VOC and LFL gas detection systems, an auto balance system, and explosion-proof alarm systems. The contractor must provide all demolition, installation, commissioning, and training services. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays, at Building 252 Corrosion Control Facility located at the intersection of Tyndal and Griffiss, NAFB, NV.

STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES

FOR

Building 252 Paint Booth #1

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, NEVADA

8 January 2025

OFFICE OF THE BASE CIVIL ENGINEER

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, NEVADA

SOO-2

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. OVERVIEW: The existing environmental controls and HVAC system at building 252 paint booth #1 is not sufficient for current OSHA requirements and is beyond its expected life span. The Existing Booth has an approximate 1200 square foot cross sectional area. The existing booth is uninsulated and has a 100% outside air (OA) design at approximately 75 Feet per Minute (FPM) if averaged over the 1200 sqft. To increase the airflow through the booth to an average of 100 FPM this will require 120,000 total Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM). The equipment is to be located (Behind the Paint Hangar Building) is insufficient to locate a 100% (OA) design. The system should be converted to a paint booth with 33/67 recirculation design. This is a turnkey project. All supporting work such as demolition and removal of equipment, piping, ducting, concrete pads, concrete curbing etc., and the addition or modification of equipment, piping, ducting, concrete pads, curbing, etc. will be covered under the contractors work.
