About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the replacement of an existing concrete pad at a firestation. The project requires the contractor to design and install a new 4000 psi concrete slab measuring 40 feet by 20 feet and 5 inches thick. The contractor is responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, and expertise necessary to complete the work, which must be suitable for extreme weather conditions including harsh winters with freezing temperatures and summers with excessive heat.
The scope of work encompasses five primary phases: a pre-mobilization site visit to assess existing conditions and structural requirements; pad preparation including excavation to required depth, installation and compaction of freeze-thaw rated base material, installation of vapor barrier and rebar reinforcement with proper grid spacing and secure tying; concrete pouring at uniform 5-inch thickness following industry best practices for extreme weather concreting with appropriate temperature management and curing protocols; and finish work including smoothing, edging, control joints, curing, and surface treatments for long-term durability. Deliverables include the completed concrete slab meeting specifications, site preparation meeting freeze-thaw durability standards, and full finishing and curing per extreme weather requirements. The contractor must provide a detailed schedule accounting for site visit, preparation, pouring, curing time allowances for extreme temperatures, and project completion. A minimum 12-month warranty is required covering workmanship, materials, and defects related to environmental durability.

Firestation Concrete Slab Replacement Scope of Work
1. Introduction This Scope of Work (SOW) outlines the requirements and responsibilities for replacing the existing concrete pad at the firestation with a new 4000 psi concrete slab measuring 40 feet by 20 feet and 5 inches thick.
2. Project Requirements The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and expertise required to prepare the site, install formwork, install rebar for enhanced strength, pour concrete, and complete finish work. All methods and materials used must be appropriate for extreme weather conditions, including harsh winters with freezing temperatures and summers with excessive heat.
3. Scope of Work
Site Visit The contractor shall visit the site prior to mobilization to assess the existing pad area, verify dimensions, determine demolition needs if applicable, evaluate soil and sub-base conditions, and identify any constraints affecting installation.
Pad Preparation The contractor shall prepare the pad area to required depth; install and compact appropriate base material rated for freeze–thaw conditions; install vapor barrier and reinforcement as required for 4000 psi concrete. The contractor shall ensure all compaction standards are met according to industry specifications, including proper subbase density testing and documentation. Rebar reinforcement shall be installed throughout the slab according to structural requirements, including grid spacing and secure tying to ensure slab durability and crack resistance.
Concrete Pouring The contractor shall place and finish 4000 psi concrete at a uniform thickness of 5 inches across the 40x20 ft slab. All work shall follow industry best practices for extreme weather concreting, including temperature management, curing protocols, and protection from rapid temperature changes.
Finish Work Finish work shall include smoothing, edging, control joints, curing, and any surface treatments required to ensure long-term durability in harsh weather conditions.
4. Deliverables
• • Completed 40x20 ft concrete slab, 5 inches thick, using 4000 psi concrete or material equal to if not more suitable.
• Site preparation meeting freeze–thaw durability standards.
• Full finishing and curing per extreme weather requirements.
5. Schedule The contractor shall provide a detailed schedule including site visit, preparation, pouring, curing time allowances for extreme temperatures, and completion.
6. Warranty A minimum 12- month warranty shall be provided covering workmanship, materials, and any defects related to environmental durability.
