About this file

This is an Attachment containing salient specifications for two flail mowers required under solicitation 1240LP26Q0174, a Request for Quotations issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service. Both mowers must be compatible with John Deere 6145M tractors and capable of being towed and operated by these units. The 20-foot flail mower features a 600 cm (236") working width with hydraulically retracting wings that narrow to 240 cm (94") for road-legal transport. It must mulch grass and prunings up to 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter, require 80 to 150 HP, operate on a dedicated 1000 RPM rear PTO input with a standard 1 3/8" Z=6 input shaft, and be configured as a trailed triple-mower unit where the central unit can be uncoupled and operated independently. The mower is controlled from the tractor cabin via integrated solenoid valves and remote controls allowing independent wing lift and cutting height adjustment.

The smaller orchard flail mower features a slimline, low-profile chassis designed to operate under low-hanging tree lines without damage and must mulch grass and prunings up to 9 cm (3.5 inches), including heavy brushwood, wood chips, corn stubble, and tree branches. It requires 100 to 150 HP tractors and incorporates a powerful hydraulic side-shift mechanism allowing up to 70 cm (28") lateral movement to maintain safe distance from rows. The unit features a heavy 1000 RPM gearbox with internal freewheel mechanism and through-shaft, constructed from ultra-tough high-tensile steel with reinforced interior and replaceable internal wear plates for stone puncture protection. The smaller mower is a single-unit configuration measuring 300 cm (118"). Quotations are due September 18, 2026, at 1600 MT, with delivery required 60 calendar days after award. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS code 333111 with a 1,250-employee size standard.

20ft flail mower salient specs:

- Configured in expansive large-area widths of 600cm (236”)

- Wings retract hydraulically to a narrow 240 cm (94") transport width for road-legal travel.

- Designed to efficiently “mulch grass and prunings up to 5 cm [2 inches]” in diameter.

- Requires a medium-to-large utility tractor pushing 80 to 150 HP.

- Must run on a dedicated 1000 RPM rear PTO input.

- Utilizes a standard 1 3/8” Z=6 input shaft.

- Built as a trailed, triple-mower configuration where the central unit can be completely uncoupled and driven separately as a standalone mower

- Governed directly from the tractor cabin via integrated solenoid valves and a remote control system, allowing operators to independently lift individual wings or adjust cutting height on the fly Smaller flail mower salient specs:

- Specially shaped, slimline chassis with low-profile belt protection explicitly designed to glide underneath low-hanging tree lines without damaging fruit or branches

- Engineered to seamlessly “mulch grass and prunings up to 9 cm [3.5”] Ø” including heavy brushwood, wood chips, corn stubble, and tree branches.

- Features a powerful, linear hydraulic side-shift mechanism allowing the mower to slide up to 70 cm (28") to the right as standard, allowing the tractor to maintain a safe distance from rows.

- A heavy 1000 RPM gearbox outfitted with an internal freewheel mechanism and a through-shaft.

- Constructed from ultra-tough high-tensile steel, fully reinforced on the inside with replaceable internal wear plates to protect against stone punctures
