About this file
This is a Requirement Description document for 736 SFS Radar Payload EchoGuard Panels or Equal procurement by the U.S. Air Force. The requirement is for an upgrade to the ODIN Tower System with advanced 3D radar panels to enhance detection capabilities for small unmanned aerial systems, vehicles, and personnel. The radar system must be packaged in hard body transit cases and integrate with the existing ODIN dual camera system featuring a fixed thermal lens with 120-degree field of view and 360-degree total coverage for immediate target identification with range, azimuth, and elevation identification.
The required radar system must feature remotely operated capabilities with camera integration, slew-to-cue integration, ATAK system integration, smartphone/tablet command and control compatibility, and geo-location ability. Technical specifications include K-band frequency operation (24.45–24.65 GHz for USA; 24.05–24.25 GHz for international), 120-degree azimuth by 80-degree elevation field of view, track accuracy less than 1-degree azimuth by 1.5-degree elevation, 10 Hz track update rate, capability for up to 20 simultaneous tracks, and 6 km instrumented range. The system must detect small unmanned aerial vehicles beyond 1 km, vehicles beyond 3.5 km, and humans beyond 2.2 km. Additional requirements include Short-Range Software-Defined Metamaterials ESA (MESA®) Radar in solid-state format, MPU5 radio integration, rugged construction, operating temperature range of -40°C to +75°C, dimensions of 16.3 cm x 20.3 cm x 5.7 cm, weight of 1.25 kg, and power consumption of 15-28 VDC/50W operating or less than 10W standby (USA) or 15-24 VDC/50W operating or less than 7W standby (international). The vendor must provide minimum one-year warranty and training support including local in-person training support outside the continental United States within one year of purchase, with cybersecurity updates and software release capabilities to mitigate vulnerabilities.
