Requirements Document

FOR

L3 Harris Remote Control Units (Heads)

1.0 GENERAL

1.1 BACKGROUND

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) currently uses the L3 Harris Remote Control Units (Heads), NSN: 5895-01-633-0610, Model: XMCP9R, Part Number: 12099-1200-01, Part Number: CH100 for fleet operations. The Remote-Control Units (Heads) are used in conjunction with the Unity XG-100M Full-Spectrum Front and Remote-Mount Mobile Multi-Band Transceiver Radio. The Unity XG-100M mobile radio is a high-performance multiband mobile radio with advanced capabilities and unprecedented interoperability capability. The radio supports P25 trunked, P25 conventional, and analog conventional operations. It covers the 136 to 174 MHz VHF Band, the 380 to 512 MHz UHF bands, and the 762 to 870 MHz bands. The Remote- Control Unit (Head) is removable and is affixed to the front of the transceiver on the remote-mounted radio. Currently, there are 188 of the Remote-Control Units operational in the fleet.

The average annual demand throughout the Coast Fleet is 26 Control Units (Heads) per year.

These units are essential to the USCG to provide a centralized point of communications to conduct operations afloat and ashore.

1.2 SCOPE

The USCG has a requirement for the open, inspection, report and repairs of L3 Harris Remote Control Units (Heads) and requires L3 Harris authorized technicians to perform the repairs and for L3 Harris branded parts to bring the units to full functionality. L3 Harris authorized technicians and parts must be used because the item is proprietary in nature and provides remote touchscreen capability with L3Harris marine/land based radio systems the item supports. The proprietary technical information and schematics from L3Harris prevents any alternative technicians from performing these repairs.

1.3 OBJECTIVE
