About this file

This is a Product Specifications document for RFP No. 240000002770 issued by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the procurement of one 40-foot semi-van drop frame trailer with a 20-ton capacity. The trailer must be new and of the latest current production model, with manufacturer's product literature submitted alongside the bidder's proposal. The specifications document establishes detailed requirements across seven major categories: basic dimensions and capacity requirements, hitch and landing gear specifications, suspension and undercharriage components, flooring materials, structural specifications, electrical systems, and paint requirements. Bidders are required to respond to each specification section with either confirmation or explanation of any deviations and available alternatives.

The specifications include comprehensive technical requirements such as tandem air ride suspension with 22,500 lbs. capacity per axle, 12.25x7.5 full air/spring ABS brakes, 1-5/16-inch oak hardwood flooring covered with 1/4-inch aluminum safety tread plate, aluminum side panels and roof construction with 1-1/2-inch insulation, DOT-approved LED lighting, and a 7-way round pin Berg connector. The trailer must be equipped with specific features including heavy-duty rollup rear doors with 86-inch minimum clear opening, barn style side doors on both upper levels, internal mated assembly hub seals, and anti-sail mud flaps. The document specifies that the trailer shall be painted orange in compliance with an MDOT-provided color sample, with wheels, frame, and bumper painted black. No pricing, contract term, set-asides, or award information is contained within this specifications attachment.
