About this file

This document details the minimum specifications for a Matrix Switch System for the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). The system requires a Keysight Technologies E5250A mainframe with one year of manufacturer support, four E5252A-FG matrix switches, a Relay Function Test Adapter, and a rack mount kit. The system must be configured as a 10x48 switchable matrix, capable of connecting 10 high-speed coaxial or low-noise triaxial inputs to 48 high-speed, low-noise outputs.

Specific technical requirements include a maximum switch current rating of 1.0 A, a maximum voltage rating of 200 V channel to ground, and specialized input ports for precision measurements. The system must support low-leakage ports for I-V measurements, precision C-V measurement ports with minimal error, and high-bandwidth ports for transmission measurements. It must be compatible with NRL's existing Keysight B1500A semiconductor device analyzer, rack-mountable, capable of self-testing, and controlled through a GPIB interface.

Text version

Minimum specifications for Matrix Switch System

• a single Keysight Technologies part E5250A mainframe, with one year of support from the manufacturer and return-to-manufacturer repair warranty

• four each of part E5252A-FG matrix switch

• one each of part E5250A-301 Relay Function Test Adapter

• one each of part E5250A-1CM rack mount kit

This system satisfies several requirements that are specific to NRL’s application:

• can be configured to provide a 10x48 switchable matrix – in other words, can be controlled to connect one of 10 high speed coaxial or low noise triaxial inputs to one of

48 high speed, low noise outputs;

• maximum switch current rating 1.0 A;

• maximum voltage rating, channel to ground, 200 V;

• the 10 input ports described above to be distributed as at least two low-leakage (< 100 fA) ports for precision I-V measurements, at least two ports for precision C-V measurements with measurement errors less than 1% +/- 0.5 pF, and at least two high-bandwidth ports exhibiting less than 3 dB loss below 10 MHz for high frequency transmission measurements;

• can be controlled by commands specific to the Keysight E5250A mainframe unit in order to maintain compatibility and facile integration with an existing, NRL-owned Keysight

B1500A semiconductor device analyzer;

• Rack-mountable in order to optimize utilization of space in the laboratory;

• Capable of self-test as directed by software commands;

• Controlled through GPIB interface.
