REQUIREMENT NARRATIVE - CRYOSTAT REPLACEMENT
This Requirement Narrative document, issued July 8, 2026, outlines a procurement need for the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI), Radiation Sciences Department. The requirement is for a germanium detector and cryostat replacement to replace a failed GC2518 HPGe detector used in gamma spectroscopy systems. The projected cost is $51,791.00 with an ASAP need date. Delivery is required within 30 days after contract award. The technical point of contact is Andrew Cook at andrew.cook@usuhs.edu.
The vendor must furnish and install a complete replacement system consisting of: one GR2020 reverse electrode coaxial germanium detector with a 7500SL cryostat, one iPA-II-SL10 Intelligent Preamp for use in an iCC, one coaxial LMR-) chamber, standard aluminum endcap, coaxial detector RC cold PA assembly, RCP preamp cable set (10 feet), user manuals (digital acceptable), and warranty documentation. The system must meet minimum specifications including 20% relative efficiency and 2.0 keV FWHM resolution for Co-60 (maximum), with an aluminum window. As a drop-in replacement, all items must be compatible with existing AFRRI hardware and software. Final acceptance requires demonstration that the system meets or exceeds all stated specifications, successful completion of acceptance testing with AFRRI staff, and delivery of all required documentation.
