About this file

This is a General Services Specifications document issued by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) for the rental or lease of an all-terrain telescoping rotary tree trimmer. The equipment is intended for trimming limbs and brush from MoDOT rights of way. The specification requires a 4-wheel drive rubber-tired unit, specifically a Kershaw or Jarraff Tree Trimmer or approved equivalent in new or reconditioned condition. Key specifications include a minimum 100 horsepower engine (CAT, Cummins, or Deutz), 40-gallon fuel tank, 20-gallon hydraulic oil tank, minimum 20,000 lbs weight, and a non-conductive telescopic boom with a 75-foot reach and 90-degree range of motion mounted on a 360-degree hydraulically powered turntable. The unit must be equipped with a single 24-inch diameter carbide-tipped saw blade rotating at minimum 2,800 rpm, a minimum 20,000 lb pull winch, and wet inboard disk braking system with fail-safe parking brake. Transport dimensions must not exceed 11 feet 6 inches in height, 42 feet 3 inches in length, and 8 feet 6 inches in width, though the unit shall be adjustable to a maximum operating width of at least 10 feet.

The equipment must meet all OSHA, ISO, and SAE standards and be certified for Falling Object Protective Structure (FOPS), Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS), and Operator Protective Structure (OPS). Vendors are required to provide comprehensive training within one month of delivery and acceptance at their expense, including operator and repair manuals in hard copy format with each unit and technical phone support during normal business hours (8 AM to 4 PM). MoDOT reserves the right to waive technicalities and reject any or all bids, and vendors must clearly note any exceptions to the stated specifications. The document does not specify pricing terms, contract duration, response deadlines, or award dates, as it functions as a technical specification document rather than a full solicitation announcement.
