About this file
This document is a specification excerpt addressing first article inspection requirements for contractor testing under military standard MIL-S-24149C (dated 27 March 1989, with Amendment 1 of 01 December 1989).
The contractor must conduct first article inspection on an initial sample in accordance with paragraph 4.3 of the specification. The testing scope requires 40 studs of each type to be tested, with test reports submitted per standard DI-NDTI-80809B. Results from the first article testing must receive approval from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and the Intermediate Maintenance Facility (IMF). The Government reserves the right to waive first article inspection requirements for bidders offering previously acquired or government-tested products, provided the bidder furnishes evidence that prior Government approval is appropriate for the pending contract. First articles are to be disposed of through commercially acceptable practices upon completion of testing.
