About this file

This document is an Explosives Detection System (EDS) Data Collection Information Sheet designed for vendors to provide detailed technical specifications for potential participation in a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) data collection opportunity. The form requires manufacturers to submit comprehensive information about their proposed EDS platform, including system details such as technology summary, maturity level, system specifications, safety certificates, data collection time, configuration details, and potential availability restrictions.

Vendors must submit the completed information sheet for each EDS model and configuration by July 22, 2025, via email to EBSPIndustryDay@tsa.dhs.gov. The data collection opportunity aims to support the development and refinement of next-generation detection algorithms, with vendors required to provide in-depth technical information including system owner details, CRADA agreement numbers, technology type, deployment metrics, system specifications, beam path stability, system emulator capabilities, safety certifications, and any critical operational constraints or requirements.

Manufacturer: Click or tap here to enter text.

System Name: (If multiple systems are applying, list all required information for each system before starting next system’s information) Click or tap here to enter text.

Owner of Proposed System: (serial number and owner of system) Click or tap here to enter text.

CRADA Agreement Number: (If OEM already has active CRADA with TSL that covers this system please provide CRADA number, if OEM has active CRADA but does not cover this system provide that CRADA number and denote proposed scanner is outside of the current scope) Click or tap here to enter text.

Rank Order: (if Manufacturer is submitting more than one platform, how does the OEM internally rank each system’s, or configuration’s, data importance. 1- Being OEM’s Most Important; 2+- Being less important) Click or tap here to enter text.

Proposed System Information:

Technology Summary: (brief description of system, include information on the technology used. For example: single or dual energy CT, XRD, system of systems, etc) Click or tap here to enter text.

Maturity Level of System: (Certification levels already achieved foreign or domestic; number and locations of systems deployed world-wide; Mean Time Between Critical Failure, Mean Time Between Failure or other metric that demonstrates the reliability of the system) Click or tap here to enter text.

System Specs: (belt speed; aperture size; max bag size; power requirements; size to include any other required devices such as Viewing Station/power conditioner/external chillers/external computer rack/etc; service area requirements; installation, setup and operating training time required; Operator/User manuals) Click or tap here to enter text.

Stable Beam Path: (system must have a stable beam path, which will be audited and placed under Configuration Management. Any changes to the scanner will require documentation from OEM and approval from the CM Team before any changes are allowed) Click or tap here to enter text.

System Emulator: (an offline tool that can be used to reprocess and view bag data collected on the scanner. Emulator needs the ability to apply different algorithms to the image file than what the bags were originally collected with. Emulator will be audited and placed under CM) Click or tap here to enter text.

Safety Certificates: (electrical for both scanner and Emulator, and radiation for the scanner) Click or tap here to enter text.

Anticipated Data Collection Time for a single scan: (time required to scan and record all required data rounded to nearest minute. If the system needs to run in special mode to collect all required data, explain special mode and additional tasking it will impact data collectors with) Click or tap here to enter text.

Is this single physical system being proposed for data collection for multiple configurations: (If Yes, what other system, and explain the events and amount of time required to swap between configurations) Click or tap here to enter text.

System Availability Restrictions: (system only available certain range of dates, or needs to be removed by date) Click or tap here to enter text.

Other Critical Information: (for example: if system requires non-standard US power, or external chilled water supply, etc) Click or tap here to enter text.
