About this file
This document is a technical specification for multiple building life safety fire alarm and electrical system upgrades at the Blackwell Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Laona, Wisconsin. The project involves four base items and one optional item: 1) installing HVAC duct smoke detectors in the gymnasium, 2) rehabilitating fire alarm systems in the dining/career prep area, 3) installing a fire alarm system in the education building, 4) rehabilitating fire alarm systems in dormitories #3 and #4, and 5) creating circuit directories for various building areas.
The work requires comprehensive fire detection system removal, installation of new addressable devices, conduit and wiring upgrades, and documentation in compliance with NFPA 72 and other national electrical and fire safety codes. Contractors must be licensed fire alarm technicians and follow strict installation guidelines, including mounting devices per ADA requirements, ensuring proper sound coverage, and completing detailed record drawings and testing. The project emphasizes minimizing disruption to existing building finishes and maintaining continuous operation of the Job Corps Center during construction.
