STATEMENT OF WORK
FOR
REPAIR BOGARD FIRE BARRACKS ROOF
BACKGROUND SITUATION:
In 2020 a contract was awarded to Repair Bogard Fire Barracks Roof. The contractor did not complete the contracted roof repair work; however, did deliver metal roof panels for the Fire Barracks. Those metal roof panels are stored onsite and are Government Furnished Material (GFM) for this project.
Contractors’ disposal requirements include any unused GFM.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The project requires the furnishing of labor, equipment, transportation, supplies, and materials to install a standing seam metal roof onto the Bogard Work Center Fire Barracks building. The existing roof is a corrugated panel metal roof on a cross shaped one-story building. The roof is approximately 4,300 square feet at roughly a 5/12 pitch with a 3-foot eave overhang around the perimeter of the building; the eaves taper at the front and back ends of the building.
The work consists of: removing and disposing of the existing metal roof panels, ridge caps, rake metal, flashing, and underlayment; removing and replacing approximately 340 square feet (18'x 19') of damaged roof sheathing along with approximately 15 lineal feet of 2"x 10" fascia board all at the front (south) side of the building; removing and replacing approximately 66 square feet of soffit (3'wide x 22' long), reusing old soffit board if possible; repairing or replacing twelve 2"x 6" damaged roof rafters underneath damaged roof sheathing; installing ice dam roof underlayment for entire roof; installing a new standing seam metal roof with ridge caps, flashing, drip edges, rake edges, and fascia, all sealed tight so that there are no leaks (i.e. around vent and/or roof penetrations). The rake edges shall be removed and new ones matching the existing rake color shall be installed.
Work for this project includes replacement of roof vents and installing snow diverters for five of the roof vents that are located on the lower portions of the roof. Roof rafters shall have cross ventilation for each separate space by ventilating openings protected against the entrance of rain or snow. Ventilation openings shall open directly to the outside air and shall be protected to prevent the entry of birds, rodents, snakes and other similar creatures. Ventilation openings shall have a least dimension of 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) minimum and 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) maximum. Ventilation openings having a least dimension larger than 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) shall be provided with corrosion-resistant wire cloth screening, hardware cloth or similar material with openings having a least dimension of 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) minimum and 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) maximum.
The net free ventilating area shall be not less than 1/150 of the area of the space ventilated. Ventilators shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions.
PROJECT LOCATION:
This project is located at: USFS Bogard Work Center, 622-275 Hwy 44, Susanville (Bogard) California.
Directions: From Susanville, head west on Hwy36 and turn right onto Hwy 44. The USFS Bogard Work Center is located approximately 29 mi from Susanville.
SCHEDULE OF WORK:
The duration of the project shall be 60 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.
Operations shall be scheduled so that work is completed between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on Federal Holidays. Permission to work an alternate schedule or hours outside those designated may be requested from the Contracting Officer.
